Snorkel and beach excursion

My husband and I leave in 3 weeks on our first cruise. I have looked into Captain Bryans for a snorkel excursion, but I was just wondering if we will have time to shop, eat lunch and soak up some sun and sand at the beach? Is this all in walking distance, or do we take shuttles or cabs? Also, is there anywhere to clean up after swimming and snorkeling? Any info is appreciated since I don't know what to expect.:)
