Margarita's - help please

Recommended Posts

Following our recent cruise we stayed in San Diego and had a lovely meal at a mexican restaurant in the 'Old Town'. We loved the 32oz Margarita's that were served with the meal. I can find the classic recipe for a Margarita, but that gives a 4oz glass only. I can't believe that the 32oz glasses contained nearly a bottle of Tequila, so please anyone, what is the recipe for the large serving?

There are many recipes for margaritas. If you found a 'classic' recipe, it may be for a more martini-style margarita (or margarini), which are mostly alcohol. Most restaurants serve a more 'watered down' version as their house margarita.

Here's a good recipe we use, though it's advertised as making 12:

3 1/2 cups Homemade Sweet and Sour (the key to a good margarita)

1 cup gold tequila

1/2 cup Triple Sec

16 ice cubes

Sweet and Sour: 1 1/2 cups sugar and 1 1/2 cups water stirred in a large saucepan until sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil, then cool. Add 1 cup fresh lemon juice and 1 cup fresh lime juice. Chill until cold, then use in above.

The Margarita recipe I use is from an OP here on cruise critic and I LOVE it!:p

1 can Minute Maid Limade ( use the can when empty to measure out other ingredients)

1 can tequila ( I use El Jimador )

1 can water

1/3 can triple sec

Pour in pitcher, mix well.

this recipe is great and sounds odd, but trust me is the best margarheta's i've had.

1 can of frozen limeade (thawed)

1 12 oz can of sprite (or diet sprite)

1 12oz can of beer (any)

1/2 of the limeade can of tequilla (or to taste..I add a little more than 1/2 of the can)
