Besides beaches and water-related activites, what recommendations do you have for sightseeing in Tobago? Are there any good, reputable local tour companies / guides that you recommend? Is it safe and easy to explore on your own?

Just getting a taxi to do you an island tour up their North-East coast

to Charlotteville

lunch somewhere at Charlotteville on Man-o-War Bay

and then back down to Scarborough along the South Coast

much of it thru rain forest and trees

should just about blow your mind, as it did mine.

And I live in these islands. ;)

Take your camera.

Much of the trip is on roads running about 200 ft. above sea-level

and thus providing great scenic views of bays and headlands, all along the way.

Who's going to take you?

I'd suggest engaging the first clean-cut decent lookin taxi guy and talk to him nice,

arrange a price in US$ and go for it.

If he quotes you a big price, he's talking Trinidad dollars, which is TT$6 = $1 US.

Got that?

So if he tells you six hundred dollars mon, dat's 600 dollars HIS money

which equals 100 dollars Real Money. Don't get suckered! :D
