valtandc Posted October 20, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted October 20, 2010 Buy some rum runners and smuggle it on. www.rumrunnerflasks.com thanks. but if the absolut is only $40 for a liter that would cost let's say......$25 elsewhere.....don't think i'll drop $25 on the flasks. Thank you for saying that! Not to mention another $3 - $8 for shipping. I guess if a person would use the flasks a lot it might pay off.

Michael Scott Posted October 21, 2010 #12 Share Posted October 21, 2010 I worried about getting caught smuggling in alcohol and instead opted to buy a liter of vodka from Carnival for $40- and brought my own small bottles of cranberry juice and tonic water plus a couple of limes. Best decision I made- the liter was plenty for the week and I had a few beers from the room refrigerator and an occasional drink about the ship. We also brought on the allowable bottles of wine and bought a wine package. Our bar bill for the cruise was very reasonable and we did it easily within the rules. trptplayer22 Posted October 21, 2010 #13 Share Posted October 21, 2010 Is there a limit to how much beer you can pre-order to keep in your room? I had my bottle of Whiskey sent to my room by Bon Voyage and bought my DH 5 days (4 a day) bar coupons and he got those the first night at dinner. I brought my own Gingerale on with me. Relax@Sea Posted October 21, 2010 #16 Share Posted October 21, 2010 Thanks for the ideas, how much soda are you able to bring on? Can you tell we are first time cruisers :). Carnival is not very specific but mostly they let you have a 12 pack per person in your carry on.
papilliontraveler Posted October 21, 2010 #17 Share Posted October 21, 2010 For any of you that have ordered tequila. I just called Bon Voyage, and the only silver they have is Patron. The 1800 they carry is gold. Also, someone mentioned they have Grand Marnier, which the lady told me they don't, they just have Triple Sec. My question is, would the 1800 gold and triple sec make a decent margarita. You can tell I don't make many of these. :) Thanks.
jones4664 Posted October 21, 2010 #18 Share Posted October 21, 2010 We use squirt & tequila for a nice margarita...with plenty of lime juice and a dash of triple sec if you want.
cruisebabe63 Posted October 21, 2010 #19 Share Posted October 21, 2010 One other thing to note about buying booze through the Bon Voyage Dept. No added 15% gratuity. All drinks bought on board at the various bars have the 15% added over and above the price.

You really don't need the triple sec if you want to save money. triple sec is weak on alcohol and really just sweet orange flavor. just buy the cheapest margueritaville tequila they sell. then bring jose cuervo marguerita mix on board and mix it up. tastes yummy. gargoyle999 Posted October 22, 2010 #22 Share Posted October 22, 2010 Is $60 for Limoncello excessive? I've never had it but it is something I want to try. Can you buy it as an individual drink?
marne001 Posted November 30, 2010 #23 Share Posted November 30, 2010 Is $60 for Limoncello excessive? I've never had it but it is something I want to try. Can you buy it as an individual drink? $60 is in line with all the other overcharged prices for BV products IMHO! Lemoncello is yummo. I mix mine with cream and serve over ice. There are lots of drink recipes you can Google them; example Lemoncello + club soda + ice. I prefer mine with lots of sugar and I do not usually like sweets! Manjare or whatever the Italian is for "drink up".
Rare richstowe Posted November 30, 2010 #24 Share Posted November 30, 2010 Not sure if this is always the case but you can save the state sales tax if you don't have your Bon Voyage order delivered until later on. I'm leaving from Baltimore on the Pride and they told me my order will be delivered a few hours after leaving port to save the 6%. Worth it !;)
cantwaittocruise12 Posted December 10, 2010 #25 Share Posted December 10, 2010 Someone mentioned a 'wine package' above...can someone explain what that is?
