Problems on the Valor?

Just curious. Any one sailed the Valor lately and have had problems? There is a thread on the Royal Caribbean site stating that they had problems on their recent sailing. They were complaining about the Ocean Players Club. They didn't get the perks that they usually do? We will be sailing the Valor in Dec. and we are also in the Ocean Players Club. Would like to know if anyone else had a problem?

Other than the Sail Away Drink(s) of the Day going down like water, I didn't have any problems on Valor last February what so ever. Wonderful ship. But like anything else, if you build it up too much in you mind before you go, you are bound to find a way to be disappointed. Go with a good attitude, and you should have a blast.

For anyone interested here is the thread:

Just sounds like this person had one bad experience and it has soured them against Carnival forever. I'm not sure what they were supposed to get from the casino that they didn't receive. We sail on the Valor this Sunday, and since I'm a member of the OPC I e-mailed the casino host and she replied, "Thank you for letting us know that you will be coming to visit. I'm sure you will have a great time on here. I will try and get you a surprise in your room on Sunday. I will be in the casino from 1pm, if you get a chance drop by and say hi."

I guess since I don't accumulate enough points to reach Gold Player, Platinum Player, or Platinum VIP status I'm not sure what the OP was missing out on, or if it is even a legitimate complaint.

Thanks Eliot. We have never had a problem with OPC before. We always call or e mail before hand. We have always received little extras. Just thought maybe this is something new that I don't know about.

Should have checked. It looks like the OP is a first time poster. They were never specfic in what their complaint was:cool: Plus they posted on Royal Caribben thread. Hmmmmmmmmmmm:cool:

Please post when you return if there was anything different:)

I'm trying to decide what it would take to swear me off of a particular cruise line ... hard to say, but I'd guess it would be a complaint that I could trace to corporate. Other than that, I'm not sure one or two encounters would be enough considering that cruising is a service industry and ... hey ... sometimes mistakes are made on the front lines because someone is having a bad day.

It became clear after reading that other thread what the "problems with Valor" were. That poster EXPECTED to be treated with special perks "free drinks, possible free excursions, luxury gift bag, liquor, etc." What planet was that poor misguided soul dropped on Earth from?

I don't care how much you gamble, a cruise ship ain't Vegas. If you want perks, go to Vegas. If you want to waste your money in the casino, why not just save a bundle and don't gamble and buy the perks outright! The nerve of some people to demand comps!

Maybe they should not have expected it. We too are Ocean Players club members, and yes we have gotten complimentary wine, fruit baskets, free drinks from the casino manager every nite. This time they are giving us $100.00 shipboard credit:) But we don't expect it.
