Bananarama Resort vs Infinity Bay?

We have been reading posts on beaches and resort and discover Infinity Bay Resort being talked about the least. Which is better Bananarama or Infinity? for nice relaxing beach day with some shore snorkeling, clean facilities, good food and beer. Please share your experience between these two resorts.

From what I understand, Infinity Bay does not offer day-passes to cruisers. You can go to thieir beach bar/restaurant, but they don't offer lounge chairs or swimming pool access.

It's a beautiful place...but they keep most of it private for their condo owners & guests.

Tx is right. You can hang out in front of Infinity Bay and enjoy the best snorkling directly in front just left of the water taxi pier. Also, have a drink there. The condos are privately owned. Still, a beautiful resort. Bananarama is a party destination. Great lively beach bar (Thirsty Turtle) and good local grub and drinks (you got to do the "Monkey LaLa"...kind of a chocolate shake with rum). We have stayed there the past 2 years. Maybe we will try Infinity Bay next year. Both are within 5 minutes of each other.

On cruise ship days, there's a speedboat that pulls a banana ride and it's located almost directly in front of Bananarama. You will be able to rent loungers (no idea how much); their drink sizes are generous and the food (from Thirsty Turtle) is said to be pretty good. It will be much less crowded than Tabyana (which is next to Infinity) but you'll be snorkeling the same reef others will pay a ship excursion fee for - but you'll be doing it for just the cost of mask, snorkel and fins (there's a guy on the beach who rents equipment - no idea of price). There's a great little coffee shop located at Bananarama - the baked goods are all home made (we were there early one morning and the smell of muffins cooking was mouth-watering) and her home made bread was great also.

You'd have a great time at Bananarama I think. We just returned from 8 days on Roatan (we rented 1/2 a house right on the West Bay Beach next to Infinity) and enjoyed watching the kids on the banana ride; your 12 year old would be just fine........

Cost of a taxi is negotiable (often depending upon the number of pax going) - and depends upon where you will be docking also (the new Carnival dock is further away from Coxen Hole dock and the cost would be more I would think). Some of the private tour companies also offer transportation.

We have stayed at or near Bananarama the past 2 years. When the cruisers arrive, so do the venders (waverunners, banana boats, off shore fishing, etc.). Personally, I would rent snorkling gear and do the reef just offshore. If you have read previous comments, you will get a good idea of how wonderful the reef snorkling is. Your 12 year old would love it. The lively beach bar at Bananarama gets crowded but is a cool place (plenty of shade) to eat, drink and people watch.
