4/11 Southern Caribbean on AOS

Hi - I appreciated the great info I got here before my cruise and thought I would add my opinions on ours. We had a great cruise! Have been on Holland America and Disney in the past.

Pre-Cruise: Caribe Hilton - we were all very unhappy with the service at this resort. They were certainly not worth the price we paid. Rooms very mediocre. Food not much to brag about either. Service throughout was lacking. Look elsewhere!

Embarkation: The quickest we have had so far! They were very organized. We were on in no time having lunch.

Stateroom: We had a balcony. The stateroom was fine and very efficient storage wise. Not as good as Disney which was larger and had split bathrooms. But we were happy with it. excellent air conditioning.

Ship: Beautiful ship! Loved the Promenade. After Day 1 had no problem finding our way around. Everything in wonderful condition. Cafe Promenade great for coffees and snacks.

Food: The food was good and sometimes great but I would not say consistently great. Never bad. So far - Disney has everyone beat with food.

Service: Excellent - from guest relations to dining to stateroom attendants - all were friendly and helpful.

Entertainment: Seemed good - we didn't do a lot so can't speak specifically. Except - the ice show - excellent, different, fun.

If you are an exercise walker: do it on the 4th deck. Much less crowded than the 12th. The adult pool area was great - not usually too crowded and MUCH quieter.

We did a lot of kayak/snorkel type excursions and had a great time. Some better than others but enjoyed them all.

Disembarkation: We had an early flight and got the early departure tags. We were off the ship and checked into the airport and security by 8:30!! Thanks to info I got from people here. Our friends who went later said the airport was a zoo by the time they got there.

Overall - would recommend RCCL - large ship not overwhelming - cruising great! sue

They had latte, cappucino, etc. and I THINK flavored coffees along with soft drinks and alcoholic drinks - all for a charge. However - there was regular coffee there, too, for no charge.

Food: The food was "free". they had breakfast type foods in a.m. and from 12:30 on they had pizza which was very popular, sandwiches (good!), desserts, and wonderful cookies. There may have been other things, too, but those were the things I noticed.

Sue, what the room stewards? Did you see a reduction as reported here on the board? What time of day was your room made up?

Room Stewards: I have never been on RCCL before so I can't compare. All I know is that our room was done twice a day. They came when we weren't there always - we never even saw them! Great job and nice towel animals every night. If they have cut back then these people deserve big tips for the job. sue

Sue - Thanks for the info, especially about the Caribe Hilton. We are doing the AOS in July and I've been trying for the Caribe on Priceline with no luck. In the meantime, we booked the Hampton Inn. I think I'll stay with our booking.
The ship sounds great and I'm so excited already!!!!!
