Monday in Florence

Recommended Posts

Just realized that our cruise on the Spirit in July visits Livorno on a Monday. Too bad...both the Academy and the Uffizi are closed. Any suggestions for alternative sights to see in Florence would be appreciated...as well as any recommendations for a good tour guide. Thank you

You may find some information on these sights - the first has some guided tours on Mondays listed, the second gives opening hours for a wide range of places. The Palazzo Vecchio was very interesting as it is the town hall. The Medici chapels were also interesting as they had a lot of Michelangelo work. The other museum we liked was the Duomo Museum which is in a street behind the Duomo. It houses the original Baptistry doors (the ones on the buildling are copies).
