Royal Dolphin Swim ... tipping?

Recommended Posts

For those who have done the Royal Swim with the Dolphins in Cozumel, do you tip the folks who run it ... and if so, what is appropriate?

Haven't done the Royal Swim, but know that tipping is expected by most tour operators. Also, most employees of the excursions are paid little money and rely, like the cruiseship crews, on tips.

I suggest tipping $5, more if you are especially pleased with the tour/service. There is usually a tip "jar" nearby and they will point it out before you leave.

We did the snorkel with the dolphins last week. I did not see anyone offer any tips to the staff. Maybe it's different with the Royal Swim.

I did the swim 2 years ago in Cozumel. Nobody tipped them. They didn't stick around long enough for that. Once the swim was over, you were brought into a small room to watch the video. Someone else directed the video and asked if anyone wanted to buy it. Never say tips handed out, so I would say no to tipping for the swim.
