?? best lobster roll in Bar Harbor

The best lobster roll I had was at the Tan Turtle Tavern http://www.chowhound.com/topics/521481 , 151 Main St, Norhteast Harbor; the second best was at the Docksider Restaurant http://www.hiddenboston.com/Docksider.html , 14 Sea St, Notheast Harbor.

You will have to use the Island Explorer (seasonal free bus) to get to either one and return - take a route #5 (scenic but longer) or #6 (direct).

In a 2007 thread, a poster wrote about having a lobster roll from The Lobster Claw (takeout...but there are a few tables and chairs there.) on West St, Bar Harbor and it was delicious. Here is the entire thread:

If I did this correctly - there should be a picture of the lobster rolls from the "the Claw" - They was delicious! The background is the view if you sit on the little porch to enjoy it. They are a little expensive, but I think it is well worth it.

We will be in Bar Harbor Sept 13 (NCL Dream) and we plan to head there first thing!:D

My wife and I were salivating while walking over to the Lobster Claw earlier this month. When we got there it reminded us of the Seinfeld episode starring the Soup ****. The crusty proprietor seemed to be more interested in moving people along then in providing any guidance to his patrons.

Despite this lack of customer service (we were used to this by now from other locals in Bar Harbor) we ordered one of his overpriced Lobster Rolls to be able to say we tried it. After a very long wait due to the fact that only one of the high school "chefs" was working we received our disapointing roll.

Save your money and go elsewhere. I doubt this owner will care.
