Century 1/22 just got back

We just got back after the best of 6............have not unpacked as we spent three days in FLL..

Lois, if you see this Erol says hi many times. Bravo was fabulous!! Louie Louie the same.. Mark's wonderful but very $$$$$ and we were stuffed into a little table for two that was not very nice.

Hyatt Pier 66 was $$$ but fabulous and so was the restuarant that someone on the boards recommeded many times. I will get my thoughts together in the next few weeks and write to all of you who recommended the best of the best. It was truly a great experience. It was our first with 13 other friends and we are all still friends!!!!!

The food and service on Century was the best ever and I did not find all of those horrible things people look for. At the end of every day, both of our tables....one with 7 and one with 8 that rotated people each night, we had a high and low of the day talk. It was hard for anyone to find a low. What a great time. Little things can take the fun out of it. We did not win in the casino...but that is gambling not a ship thing. We did not need to go there.

I will write more later. But, most of all we got to meet our CC people, and I got to meet my Toni from Canada just as we embarked. After 7 months of writing we actually met as we embarked at the exact same time...

The Sky Suite and Paul the Butler, Shawn the Cabin Steward, Sergay the Waiter and his asst. were fabulous. But again, Erol the bartender was the best with Alex the waiter in so many bars. We thank them all.

Sorry they are leaving for Europe.

Wecome back, Patti!!!!!! You are so sweet to remember to post!!! I'm glad to hear you seemed to have a fabulous time! WHEW!!!!!

I'm not having luck with Priceline on hotels for April, and am glad to hear that the Hyatt was still good. We have two nights in Fort Lauderdale pre cruise, so I'm anxious for any ideas on food, hotels and activities!

So, who is the group that plays by the pool now (and in the disco too, as I remember)?

I look forward to reading MORE!!!

Hi! I'm home from the Century also. I did not find any CC people, but that was probably my own fault. I want to write a review as a first time cruiser. Should I put it here or on the Review page? Thanks Heather in Alaska

Great news about Century! Glad you had an enjoyable vacation. We'll be on Century on 2/26 and it's nice to see more and more favorable reviews after some of the negative reviews. I hope our vacation is as good as it sounds yours was.

We are sailing Century, February 12, 2005. Doesn't sound like there is anything to worry about on Century but I reallllly want to hear about your trip. Glad you had a good time.

How was the entertainment?

How was the weather?

Gosh, I am getting psyched about this trip.

Thanks for posting.

Heather,

Toni and I wished we knew what cabin you were in. We had our party on Saturday AM at 10:00. It was fun and nice to meet everyone. We sure talked about how much we wish we could have found you.

Did you all have a great time?

As for the entertainment by the pool, I really do not remember their names. They played pretty much the same music every day, but after all, it was cruising music...so it was fine. We never did disco. We spent time at the Rende Vous sp? with Erol, much time with friends and at the casino.

The ports were ok, but it is a good thing we had already been to them all before this cruise. San Juan was a waste of time as it is so late and there just isn't much time to do or see anything.

Nassau was really bad. The weather was very bad that day....the rain and winds were terrible and we were late getting off the ship. We took a cab to Atlantis and had to turn around and take a cab back to the ship after only 50 minutes.

St. Thomas and St. Martin were great and the weather was much better.

The best part for us was actually the cruise ship, staff and food. We would consider Celebrity and the Century again. Because we love the SS, it will take a bit longer before the next one. I hope they do take it in for some upgrades, as it is a beauty. It just needs some new bedding, carpeting etc.

Anyway, it was great. I will write more later.

Hi, glad you had a nice time. We had a "Shawn" cabin attendant several times aboard the Century. Wondered if it is the same guy. He is a rather tall Indian, whose family is in Cozumel, mom in India and dad in USA. We would love to know if it is him, we heard that he was on the Galaxy. We know he loved the Century. We consider him a friend and we have not been able to reach him.

Wow! We are sort of in between the others going on Century - we really loved our prior cruise on this elegant lady, because the staff is absolutely wonderful. We board on 2/19/2005 - and are looking forward to going to St. Thomas and St. Maarten. San Juan - ho hum, and we have been to Nassau before, when we stayed at Sandals.

Thank you for your report, and getting us just revvvved up for our escape from deep snow, fog, frost, and very very cold nights as well as days.

We are taking our two young granddaughters, 11 & 8 years with us I haven't heard too much about kids on these threads, but yet the info from cruise critic indicated that celebrity has a great kids program. I sure hope so. Anyone know? We have signed up for the party I notice that only 16 are signed up so far. any more out there?

Nanaandpappa, we were on Century last Jan. and our son did some things with the childrens program. He was an "older" pre-teen and it seems that the younger kids were more interested in the children's program.... There was one counselor (Jo Jo) who was his favorite. We're hoping she is still on. Just tell her Cody (the guitar player from Calif.) says "Hi" and that he's hoping to see her April 16th! They certainly kept them busy and they all seemed happy!

By the way, we're almost neighbors...we're in Glendora! Let us know if Jo Jo is still on, if you would!

Have a great time!

Kathy and George,

I really don't think it is the same Shawn. Sorry. But he really was wonderful. They were short of help a person on deck 12, so we did not get a chance to visit much with he or Paul, but they were always around when you needed something.

My husband says he thinks it is the same Shawn. He was fairly tall (5'10") and he was from India. Also, he had a mustache. So maybe I am wrong. I did not notice that much, but if you thought he was great, it could very well be.

Lois, We saw your plaque at Shawn's house! We were there last Aug.. Her surgery went fine and they had a little boy, William. All were well and happy then. Shawn was supposed to be going home to India to renu visas and then was going to be on the Galaxy. We havn't heard since then. We also got them some small gifts and sent them for his kids. Great guy and very very good!

We are so glad to know he's OK. Thanks for the info everyone.:D

Hi Patti! :)

So glad to hear your loved the Century, as we do too! :D I'm also in the process of trying to do a review of our Empress cruise. I've posted 2 parts, and need to finish today, if possible!

In answer to the question about kids, we were with our family last Jan and the kids were 11, 8 1/2, and 8. They really liked the kids program, it is very good! They also spent time with the family, at the pool, playing shuffleboard, and on excursions.

Hi Patti, Toni, Heather and everybody! It was a great cruise, and as Patti said I didn't find any trace of what other posters had written about on earlier cruises. Constant polishing, painting and cleaning going on. In the evenings we saw the pool butlers removing the chair covers and taking them away (to be washed, I assume?) and then cleaning the chairs with an antiseptic solution. Our cabin was immaculate always, the service was great. Our waiter Kristian and his ass't Viktor were perfect and Erol is as always sublime. The weather was a problem, it was overcast a lot, and as Patti said, Nassau was awful due to the weather. Our snorkeling excursion got cancelled so we just went into town for about an hour and headed back to the ship.

I always recommend the T-pool, it is still $20 per visit and $60 for the week, and that includes use of the sauna and the steam room, although when we were aboard the steam room was like the fires of hades!!! I had a couple of massages by a wonderful girl, her name was Nellie.

Food is such a subjective thing that I hesitate to go into it here, but just a few favorite things - waffles at breakfast, always, burgers and fries by the pool at lunch. Dinner faves - Tournedos of beef, honey grilled pork chops with black peppercorns, and the duck pasta dish and of course the creme brulee.

Over all it was a wonderful cruise, even though I was sick a lot of the time and spent a great deal of time in the cabin. I swore I would go parasailing no matter what and I did it!!! If you've never done it, go for it, it's great"!

Susan
