Live from the Valor

Hello all… on board the Valor this week. So far, it’s been cloudy, but no rain!

Embarkation – great, room – great, food – great, shows, great, casino – really great!!!

Any specific questions? I’ll try to help out, but won’t be online every day.

Oh yeah, remember to log off your Internet session or you’ll use all your minutes up at once.

(At least the Internet Manager credited my account and reset my usage!)

can you do me a favor if you're on deck 5 and swing by the Bronx Bar? Tell Angela (tall bartender with dark ponytail, from Romania) that Keith, Stacey, Brian & Michelle say "Hi!", we miss her, and she needs to check her email! Thanks so much!

Glad you're enjoying the ship as much as we did. I'm having a delayed battle with PCD. :( Keep updating when you can!

Please look for Christina in the casino. She's from Romania and I think she deals blackjack. I'd love a picture or at least a description and impression. Thanks and have a great time.

Actually, I was at her table last night. Great dealer and she got a lot of tips from me. I'll say hi to her tonight from you. (She said she was leaving in 2 weeks and probably wasn't coming back for another contract, time to do something different.)

Hi is the slide open?

We're in room 1066, right near the slide exit... and, YES, the slide is open today!! This is our first day at sea and there's still a lot of deck chairs available, but most of the ones around the pools are saved.

It must not be the same Christina. She's not due off until September. Please ask if she is dating an officer on board. I think she works from 9 pm to 3 am on port days. Not sure of her schedule on sea days. Thanks so much. I've talked to her and would like to put a picture with a voice.

Glad to here you are having a great time.:) I just had a couple of questions. Is Josh back as the cruise director? Who is the Lido deck band and are they any good? Is there a Pub Crawl on the Valor?

Thanks

Lynne

The current CD is Brent Mitchell... funny guy and seems to be doing well.

Lido music is by 'Laws' and let's just say that Simon from American Idol wouldn't be saying anything nice about them.

Not sure about a Pub Crawl, haven't heard anything.

St Thomas

Arrival was scheduled for 9:00am.

First notification we had at 8:20am was that due to 'mechanical problems' (they had to complete some propeller repair the previous day) and also a strong current, we would not be arriving in St. Thomas until 10:45am.

That obviously sent people wondering what was going to happen with scheduled tours and all the daily plans.

We got up and had breakfast and walked down to the Promenade deck to get in line for the immigration check.

We had further updates while we were in line, but we didn’t eventually get into port until 11:15am.

We made it through the customs check (remember, you need passport or birth certificate… a drivers license won’t work) and then we made it off the ship.

We got a taxi to Coral World ($8 per person) and met up with our excursion. We planned a snuba dive with VI Snuba Excursion (www.visnuba.com) and it was a great time. We were the only ones in the group and the owner, Frank, took us out. I would highly recommend this option! We hope all the pictures turn out and he took several that will be posted on their website.

I dont get it? I have been to St. Thomas a 3 times now, you need to go through customs again? I thought the old S&S card is all you needed to get off and on the ship in St. Thomas. Please verify, Thanks

Because of the earlier stop in Nassau and then returning to a US territory, EVERYONE on the ship has to pass immigration. You need to show customs proof of birth (passport or birth certificate) and then you proceed off the ship as usually. At least you don't have to wait until they track down all the last ones who are sleeping in...

It really does go quick (so why do we really do it?), but because or our delay, it just put everyone in a bad mood.

:) Hi there hope you are having a great time I know my daughter and I did during the last week in April! As long as I see other people asking you to say hi to some of the folks on the Valor...IF YOU happen to be at the bar at the casino PLEASE tell Osvaldo that Carolyn & Heidi say hi. Do you happen to know if there is a way to send mail to the employees - can you ask him if he has email???? Thanks a million! ! ! ! Hope to hear from you and enjoy! ! ! :p

If you happen to have any of your Carnival receipts that you were given while Osvaldo waited on you, it makes things much easier. Here's the scoop, the ship's address is: Carnival MS Valor, PO Box 025217, Miami, FL, 33102-5217. Then you need his full name and employee number, which you can find at the top of any of the receipts you got when he waited on you. The employee number is a 6 digit number, and follows his name.

Hope that helps!:)

Thank you very much - I just wanted to thank him and few others for making our first cruise a great time! I am sure also being away from their families for 7 months at a time is hard on them! Thank you again! ! ! ! :D

Hi Mike,

Glad you are enjoying your time on the Valor. I am so jealous! :D

Since you have been kind enough to say hi to some of the crew for people, could you please say hi to Greg, one of the Valor dancers? He is from New Zealand and usually helps with Bingo during the day and before some of the shows. If you see him, please tell him Sarah Martinez says hi.

Thanks so much!

Hey, I hope you have a great time. It's great to be live from Valor ;) Internet is expensive when I went on it. Did you bring a laptop and get it from your room? or did you just go to the internet cafe? I don't bring a laptop..........I go to the Internet Cafe but only once or twice since it is a cruise vacation :) Did you try Scarlett's Super Club?

If you run into Pithak or Kitty from the Lincoln Dining room ....please say hello from the group of 25 from Iowa that sailed the first week of May....they were absolutely CHARMING!!!!!!!!!!!! They took AWESOME care of us the entire week! ;)

We wrote excellent things about them on the comment card...but we sure hope they get the recognition they deserve from Carnival!!!!

Mike, before your minutes run out, Alot of people have been talking about Room Service? have you tried it yet?

We usually get Room Service every night, but only have on two occasions. Both time BLT's, chips and cookies. It was quick and easy. Remember pizza is 24 hours and we sometimes just stopped there for a quick bite.

I brought my laptop and access the wireless servive from my room. I bought the 250 minutes plan/$100 and it was worth it. In fact, I didn't log out properly the first time (VERY IMPORTANT) and the Internet Manager creditted my account and I still have minutes to use!

In fact, I set up a web cam feed so our niece back in Illinois could watch our wedding renewal on Tuesday (30 years). It worked out great!! About 10 people back home watched the web cam and we could see them at the same time. I just carried my laptop to the Capital Room, set it up, connected to them and it was perfect.

We didn't try Scarlett's Super Club. I'll ask around and see if anyone did.

http://www.mediacons.it/infoCarnival/ShipInfo.asp?name=Valor I see the Carnival Valor webcam........I can see your on the sea now. But, it is your last full day isn't it? What was your favorite part of the cruise? Still don't have the documents for the July 10th cruise. Our travel agent said earliest they can get them is 30 days before because we have airline tickets. It is now 29 days before........I hope our documents come soon.
