Hilton Resort, Malibu Beach or Boatyard?

We are a group of a few ladies 70-40 with teenage kids, 15ish and looking for a nice beach day.

I'm debating between the 3. Which would you suggest and why? If possible include transportation and admission costs and what they include.

I have been to the Boatyard before so I know the info for there but thought about maybe trying something different this trip. :D

Thanks for any suggestions.

Two words.

Accra Beach.

It'll satisfy most of your requirements, age-wise.

The kids will love it. It's a very nice beach

with Pizza and fast-food nearby, some shopping nearby(Quayside Mall)

chairs,umbrella's ..showers, drinks and snack-stands

taxi stand right there, bus stop even closer...am I done yet?

Accra suffers few complaints, trust me!

Tell the taxi driver you're going to Accra BEACH

- not the hotel by the same name.

Hi Aplmac

We are a group of 14 pals (50-60 years young) who cruise together and would like to book a catamaran cruise and then the rest of the day at a nice beach with bar and food. We are spending the day in Barbados whilst the new boarders come on board.

Would this Accra Beach suit us? Is it on the west coast? we like the calmer waters of the caribbean.

Hope you can help

Thank you

Would this Accra Beach suit us? Is it on the west coast? ===> No. South Coast

we like the calmer waters of the Caribbean. ===> You want West Coast.

The local catamaran coastal cruises mostly run along the calm West Coast

(unless there's a big ole North swell running that day).

TIAMI cats are run by TallShips

the same people who've run Jolly Roger and Harbour Master coastal cruises now for decades.

Cats are romantic but often cramped and crowded..but you have to know what you want.

Honestly, given your ages stated, you'd be far more comfortable on Harbour Master

where you'll have your lunch siting at a table, on a chair,

not with your plate perched on your lap.

They all do the same routes anyway, and Harbour Master has three decks to choose from!

Whether Cat or Harbour Master

the trip will include lunch and a stop at a great beach

for about 1.5 hours where you get to swim, snorkel, waterslide!,sunbathe whatever.

But it's your day and you should start researching it now.

use key words in Google search engine like TIAMI, TALL SHIPS, Harbour Master

and see what comes back!

see my pics at..

http://www.angelfire.com/wizard2/cncisland/bigships/scenes.html

particularly the link that says West Coast beaches...

..those three pics you see there were taken from Harbour Master, the last day I went on her.

(time for another trip,Charles)

Hope this helps you plan your coastal cruise.

Whoever takes you, you'll have a good time.

I live here and I do it every now and then, and it's great every time.

Thank you for your time

We really do like the cats - we are very young at heart

I think we used Cool Runnings last time but I will check out Tiami - I think we have used them also

Would there be any better choice for us between Accra and Crane in your view?

Thank you

Would there be any better choice for us between Accra and Crane in your view? ===> Accra

----------

Just noted your correction for me that Accra was south coast

- would Crane and Accra be very rough in your view?

And which is the best beach in your view please

Accra can be a bit rough, but any waves are likely to be small-ish.

There's a better-than-50% chance you'll go in,

unless you're a real girly-girl and such things scare you.. :D

Crane will be rough(active beach-break type surf, all the time)

and your chances of getting into the sea are less than 50%

unless you're willing to tough it out to get beyond the surf zone banging onto the beach

and get out into the calmer but rolling waters beyond

where you will be in water too deep to touch bottom so you will be swimming it.

If you're cool with that, and are a strong confident water-worthy swimmer

you will not forget that swimming experience!

Just look at the guy in the picture below - that's what I'm talking about.

At least Accra has water you can stand in, up to your chest or neck

once you get beyond the not-so-active surf zone.

Other consideration...Crane is clear across the island

about 15 miles/1 hr. away from your ship

whereas Accra is about 2-3 miles/20 minutes away from your ship.

Your choice.

I still say Accra.

More to do nearby, as well.

And no Bds. $25 day rate, although you'll probably rent a chair for 5

and an umbrella for another 5(?).

Local touristy-shirts-and-tops sales kiosks nearby

Pizza right across the road, drinks and snacks beachside.

Crane's too lah-de-dah for that sorta stuff (it's a resort!)

but it depends on what you want.

..........................

And yesterday you wanted dead-calm West Coast conditions!

Aaarghh! Women!

You are sooooo understanding of the female species

Yes I think that these beaches may be a little on the rough side but at lest I know which I would prefer now

so only need to know the best of the west coast beaches now - don't mind a little taxi ride.

Last time out we spent the day at The Escape Hotel as day guests and that was fine but don't want to do the same venue again.

Have patience - I am nearly at a decision!!!!!!!

You are sooooo understanding of the female species ==> married twice helps! :D

Yes I think that these beaches may be a little on the rough side but at lest I know

which I would prefer now ===> Carlisle Bay? it's close to hand! - and calm!

so only need to know the best of the west coast beaches now

- don't mind a little taxi ride. ===> Holetown! about halfway along the West Coast

Last time out we spent the day at The Escape Hotel as day guests and that was fine

but don't want to do the same venue again.

Gail

Best beach on the West Coast is probably Sandy Lane beach

-once a North Swell isn't running!

Holetown is about a mile North of that, and has all sorts of shopping

and other amenities immediately inland(Sunset Crest shopping area)

so you might like that, and it's about 30 mins. away from the ship, if that

(depends on traffic..the usual story)

Thank you kind sir

I know what to do now - I think?!

Cool Runnings then Sandy Lane and a bit of shopping

or Lobster Alive

or the Hilton

Don't worry it'll be allright!

(My wife's middle name is Gail)

Cool Runnings will coastal-cruise you down the calm West Coast

to Sandy Lane or thereabouts - all those West Coast bays are nice

especially if approached from the sea!!

It's hard to have a bad day in Barbados. :)

Like you say.. it'll be allright.

I'm still up in the air. It's between the 3 I listed as we have a big group. I think the $25 day fee for the hgilton might be a little high, Boatyard was good but been there done that. Any reviews on Maibu Beach???? Maybe we should just do Boatyard again.

I need shade for my mother besides that we're easy to please.
