Another option

I have purchase Travelguard insurance for virtually all of my trips, cruise and non-cruise.
I have had couple of claims and all were paid quickly with minimum of hassle.
Good prices also.

book to read

Anyone thinking about working on a cruise ship should read "Cruise Confidential." Although I think it over-emphasizes the sexual nature, it tells a rather bleak picture. The book is told by an...

Parking

I generally use whatever hotel I like the price and location of. Then I use Park N Fly for my car. The one time I used a hotel-stay-while-I cruise-and left my car, I came back to
some damage on my...

On several cruises, the items have come back with little adhesive tags with the cabin number. They are easy to remove. This seems to be an easy method.

San Juan hotel

I have used the Hampton Inn before and after cruises. Reasonable prices, internet included and convenient. Any taxi can take you from port and to airport.

Enjoyed Infinity last month

I did the Ft. Lauderdale to Valpariso trip on Infinity last month. The ship is in very nice condition, having been updated in Nov. 2011. The captains club hostess Jenny is very personable if you...

I did my own visa application a few years ago. Yes, it is complex but if you follow the rules for your region, it can be done. We mailed all the requested information, being very careful with each...

Reliable Effy

I like Effy on several islands. I have had them repair items that I had bought from them. They did not charge me to fix although a US jeweler wanted $200. I've bought stuff from
them on St....

One thing to remove.

Please remove the "flat iron" from your list. Cruise ships consider them a fire
hazard and will confiscate them if spotted. They will be returned at end of cruise
but, like flame-candles, they...

Left behind

One time I purposely put into the waste basket a shirt I no longer wanted. The room steward must have thought it was a mistake, because she took it out and folded it on the bed. We did this three...

I loved Buenas Aires and Montevideo. Did not care much for Rio...Uncomfortable on the streets and several instances of robbery from our Azamara shipmates.

The reason I use a rental car sometimes

I sometimes use the rental car option, for example later this year our cruise leaves from
Ft. Lauderdale but we return via air to Miami Airport (ugh). We live about five hours from Port Everglades,...

Yep, there's a pit stop.

We took the ship's transfer from Rome airport a few years ago. The driver stopped at a large store, ostensibly for bathroom break, but there was a large liquor section, as well
as water, snacks,...

I get off at virtually every port, even just for a little walk. Sometimes there is an internet

It depends

I would say it depends on two major things: 1 - the cruise line and ship and 2 - the length of the cruise. I've been on Celebrity over Christmas on a 7 day trip and it was great. Families but not...
