We also were on BW in January. I agree, don't book these if you expect privacy. Also, they've taken up the space previously available for sun bathing and walking round the ship (5 laps = 1 mile, if...

We've used this firm for parking at Southampton and generally it works well:

I don't think so. I checked with reception, who confirmed the crew could use them - that's why our gave ours to our cabin stewardess, like I said.

Booking shore tours online - I did this in November/December last. Yes, the site was slow and should be improved. I'm not a techie but I can't imagine it would be that difficult.

She was also CD on the South American cruise after Christmas. I agree, she did work very hard and her efforts were much appreciated.

That sounds good, but do be aware that the on-board wi-fi is, at times, pretty dismal and expensive - you are paying when you connect to the system regardless of the speeds obtained. Many people wait...

Puerto Madryn to Gaimon-February 2015

Quite fancy visiting this village/town(???).

Seems a fair distance from the port.

Has anyone done it by taxi, as opposed to the ships tour?

How long was the journey?

Reasonable cost?

Cool Weather around Cape Horn in Jan/Feb.

We are on Black Watch around South America in Jan/Feb.

I would be interested to hear about the likely weather conditions from anyone who's done a similar cruise around that time.

Many thanks

Thanks for this information. Could you do the same, please, for Black Watch around South America on Jan 6th - I appreciate timings could change for all sorts of reasons.

Cheers

The only ship we haven't been on is Braemar and that's not deliberate, it's just that she does a fair number of fly cruises, not our favourite way of cruising.

Providing the itinerary was to our...

I can recommend Daniels Taxis from a previous stop in Madeira.

I'm thinking of afternoon tea at Reids on our next visit in January - a private visit rather than a ship's tour.

I gather it's...

We have sailed on Balmoral a number of times and met several solo travellers. I'd be confident you will find enough to keep you entertained. They provide dancing hosts as well.

TBH, I've never seen one except in the bar itself, but the prices are reasonable compared to some other cruise lines, so I would say a pint of beer will cost you around £3.30

You don't say for how long you normally cruise, but for, say 15 days or so, that would be fine. I doubt you would get into the Main Dining Room on Formal nights, but there is an alternative.
