Not sure for X but I emailed HAL the same...

Not sure for X but I emailed HAL the same question and they were open all night. It was regular checkin until 8:00 and after that you had to checkin at the front desk.

You could walk it but it is probably close to two miles to the fish market and cable car. I would take the shuttle, hope you have better weather than we did, it rained cats and dogs.

We used Paddy's cab. Not a very comfortable ride. We had a very rainy day so it was not a great success. We did get about 30 minutes at the causeway before the rain.
