They are there to prevent losing "life support" power (for lack of a better term). Things like A/C, lighting, plumbing, cooking ability. They are not there to propel the ship back to port.

The problem is, the OP booked that too, but didn't receive it. They got a chair bed instead of the sofa bed. Even after calling several times to confirm the configuration.
