Money for the Casino

I will be on a Princess British Isles cruise this coming June. I have all my currency needed for in port fun, but when it comes to having fun on the ship in the casino what do I need to have? US dollars? I've read that you can have the gambling charged to your room, but I don't really want to do that. I allot myself a certain dollar amount when gambling, in cash, and don't want to exceed that. If I charge to the room, I KNOW I'll exceed the allotment.

So, I guess the general questions are...do the casinos take cash and what currency is accepted?

Apologies if this been asked elsewhere, but there is so much into to weed through!

Yes...they take cash and US Dollars is what they accept. Bring what you plan to lose...and when it's gone, it's gone! Stop gambling! Losing is the most likely outcome, but if you treat it as "entertainment", and know how much you are willing to lose...it's fun!

Thanks for the info. Yes, I only gamble what I plan on gambling and I allot myself a $ amount each day. When I'm done, I'm done. I typically walk away with something though, but I'm not heartbroken if I don't.

They also charge you a surcharge if you take cash and put it on your room. Varies by ship, but usually around 5% so whatever you do don't plan on getting your gambling money that way! Puts you in the hole before you start

You should need just $1 in cash. Win with it, and then just keep winning! Simple!!

Kidding aside: yes, best plan is to bring cash, in US currency. There are ATMs with big fees and some ships let you use the room card...both are "dangerous" is you're trying to stay on a budget. Also, ships have pretty tight slots compared to places like Vegas. Don't get your hopes up if you prefer the electronic games.

princess takes cash US you use your ship card also and winnings go to the card you can cash out anytime you can use money from your ship account in increments of $10 I have never been charged any fee for that by the cruise line or credit card company personally I change bills in for $5 we all have a system good luck I just got off Princess yesterday did not win big.
