Well we are on the Westerdam April 14-28, for a Panama Canal repo. I think the drydock is right before this in the Bahamas after the Caribbean season is over.
Right - the schedule gap now seems to be Apr 6>14. Are you sure you don't sail on the 15th?

yea it's April 15th, not the 14th for the Panama Canal cruise. So drydock should end on the 14th.

Any info on where the drydocks are performed? I know the Amsterdam will have its done in San Francisco this December.

Look at the post above! Copper 10-8 lists it as Freeport.

HAL site says Ryndam does two 7-day West Caribbean Nov 16 to 23 and 23 to 30:

and she appears to be "nowhere" Mar 24 to Apr 5. She disembarks passengers in Tampa on Mar 23 and next embarks them in Port Everglades on Apr 6. :p

John,

What does dry dock involve basically ?

Is it just cleaning and fixing stuff on the ship. We'll sail the Eurodam 45 days after dry dock. Does that mean we gonna have a brand new ship ? LoL

Yes, maintenance inside and outside for "routine" 7-day dry docks. For longer ones there are sometimes structural changes - adding cabins, revamping public areas, etc. Since the E-dam's is 11 days there may be a little more than routine but less than major work done. Copper10-8/John may have some information about that.

The Amsterdam Dec. 2013 drydock will be at BAE Systems San Francisco. There is a park near the shipyard and I will try to get some pictures and post on CC

A "drydock" is usually longer the 7 days since the ship is completely taken out of the water so everything under the waterline can be worked on.

RYDM's drydock is now 23 MAR - 06 APR 14 in Freeport! How's that?:p

This has been discussed extensively on the boards. The main purpose is below the waterline work, painting and so on as well as major interior work like engine work. It can also include lots of "soft" work like carpet replacement, etc. Sometimes major structure stuff or redesigns have been done, but there hasn't been any discussions of new ideas, other than adding Retreat Cabanas on the Vistas.

Occasionally other critical work like galley equipment repair, nav equipment repair or replacement and other items that can't be done under way.

One travel agent told me, she will not be going to Singapore Drydock in 2014. What a disappointment!
Then where is she between Dec 8 and 21? HAL has nothing scheduled. I think your TA is wrong. Edited by jtl513

Volendam entered drydock in Singapore yesterday (8th December).

Go to Marine Traffic -

http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/home

and type in Volendam under the vessels dropdown.

Cheers,

Avsec

We are taking our first HAL cruise on the Volendam next August. Anyone know what work is scheduled for this 2-week dry dock

Thanks in advance

Anybody know if " Mix" will be added during the Zuiderdam drydock in April?

It does seem Zuiderdam will have deck 11 stateroom additions, general furniture and carpeting refurbishing and a hull paint.

Only the S and R class ships have 'MIX'. That would be Statendam, Ryndam, Maasdam, Veendam, Zaandam, Volendam, Rotterdam, Amsterdam. As far as the Vista and Signature class, I believe none will be retrofited with 'MIX' and that would be Oosterdam, Westerdam, Zuiderdam, Noordam, Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam.
