Vinho verde, or green wine, is a low-alcohol and slightly effervescent white wine that is grown primarily in the Minho region, just north of Porto. Green refers to the region, as well as the age of the grapes

Vinho Verde refers to a young wine, made to be drunk young, and as such can be either white or red, although I believe only white Vinho Verde is exported, and that usually is made sweeter than the dry versions sold in Portugal.

Can't wait! We leave in 3 weeks. Viking has an excursion to the Dow vineyards for Port tastings and dinner. I will do a review when we get back

We are right behind you with a departure date of 2 Nov. Would love to read your comments and/or tips before we depart.
