I have a profile on the meet me onboard site. Dont really like it, not much traffic there.

Yeah. I'm on that site as well. Solo traveler here. Would live to find and active forum for a meet and greet. From what I've experienced. Cruise critic is the most active.

Yeah, I put up a message on the other forum and never heard anything. I also never met any other passengers on board that's family, nobody showed up to the FOD meetings. I will say that I met A LOT of gay people who worked onboard.

There is a good chance I will be on the Glory (Carnival) on Nov 25 this yr. Im in process of planning a cruise during that time. I will be alone, I talk to anybody, gay straight, whatever. I dont care.. I do have gay friends locally.

I've done a number of sailings as a gay solo and never had trouble meeting people. I think it's important to ask for a large table at dinner and you do have to be somewhat outgoing and willing to talk. Always check out the embarkation photos and look for singles and same sex couples and then keep an eye out on the ship :).

Anyone know of a way to meet someone to share a room BUT NOT A HOOK-UP?

Good luck, I tryed that twice.. Seems like the other person wants to "mess around" as part of the room share deal.. That is why i just booked a cabin at full price alone..

I couldn't tell you what kind of changes/refurbishments that were made to the ship but I would like to say that the Carnival Glory was my first cruise and I had a blast! I met tons of couples and a few singles at the FOD meetings that were held at the Champagne Bar (or was it the Wine Bar) - next to the casino. By the end of the week, it grew! And a couple of my straight tablemates joined in and then their friends joined. Overall, it was fantastic and probably the most memorable social experience I've had on a cruise ship.

Have fun in November and give us a review when you return! :D

I am a single gay guy who often cruises alone. Sometimes a married couple (male and female) travel with me, but give me my space. I have only sailed with Princess and like the anytime dining option to meet more people.

I also go to the LGBT meetings. Some have been very good and some have been terrible. Ones that are hosted at least once usually are much better.

Sailing on the Pacific Princess in August to the Black Sea. I started a roll call on here but so far seems I am the only gay on the ship other than crew. Seems to be difficult to get the roll calls going.

I too look at the embarkation photos and others to see who the "couples" and singles are.

Well goes to show you never know! Sailed the Carnival Glory on a short 5 night to Canada last summer and NO ONE showed up at the FOD meetings. Single gayster here and I was traveling with a Lesbian friend for the short sojourn from NYC...

I just booked for myself...solo...for my birthday...the NCL Spirit 12 night from Venice to Barcelona on October 1st, 2012. The regular cabin prices are wayyyyyyyy low and the single supplement was only 40%! AND a $75 OBC. Airfare was a wee high though...though not unexpected.

I have sailed the Spirit twice out of NYC and the FOD get togethers were always well attended! The ship is beautiful!

We just finished a Princess Grand Mediterranean cruise that is basically the same itinerary as your NCL Spirit one - you'll have a fantastic time! We ended up with about 20+ people at the LGBT meetings at various points - I was shocked! Most were international though, so maybe they're more willing to show up to those events. Have a great cruise!

take a look at the embarkation photos, pating attention to single people or same-sex couples/groups. not a sure thing, but a good starting point.

For the last 3 cruises I never bothered getting my pic taken before boarding the ship since ive taken so many. This time since im going alone, i will get my pic taken in terminal wearing my kilt. That way people looking for other singles in the photo display may notice me traveling alone, etc. Never really thought of this idea.

It can at times be difficult to meet other gay solo travelers but it is doable.

Did my first solo about a year ag and found that at lectures, trivia games, anything that people congregate, you start to talk with people and you will be amazed at who you meet. FOD on most ships are not that good at meeting people, at least for me.

Remeber couples go because they don't have to pay the damn single price and have someone at least to talk with.

Hang in there and keep plugging away and you will meet people

We have mainly travelled on Cunard where they always have Friends of Dorothy in the Commodore Club. It varies who goes and could be better if hosted for the first time as there can be an awkward start...ie a lot of "is he isn't he" at first. But it depends on how outgoing you can be...we have always been regulars and now have some really good friends couples and singles. One guy (now a close friend) went to the main reception desk and asked "what do you do you do for the homo's around here?"...perhaps a little bold but got directed for FOD where he went from person to person and introduced himself. On the same trip I noticed a group of 6 french guys who never came to FOD so introduced myself to them at Breakfast and they had not translated FOD to understand it was a meeting of gays and lesbians...so once introduced we had a ball...and met up at all other events thereafter. The best FOD has been transatlantic in my opinion with 5 days at sea each way...we had about 25 of us couples and singles gay and lesbian...great fun at tea and clubbing later...

Finally, like some other replies...I just talk to anyone...I'm always pleased if someone talks to me ...so go for it! Good luck! Bx;)
