SUITE PERKS (Compared): Carnival, NCL, Princess, Celebrity

Disclaimer (for those who see everyone as having an agenda!): The following lists are only to serve for comparative purposes for anyone who is interested. It is NOT intended to be critical of Carnival, but rather to show what perks other lines treat their suite guests to. Note that some of the listed "perks" are standard in ALL cabins, thus are simply filler. Some of these are really impressive, others are just fluff. For example, I don't want the butler to unpack my luggage!! Please note that the extra perks are not without cost! In some cases a substantial premium (several hundred to thousands more) is required. Generally though, you get what you pay for. Whether that is of "value" to you, is your call.

On NCL you also have the opportunity to eat in Cagney's for breakfast and lunch. Cagney's is one of the specialty restaurants that is extra charge for dinner. It is used during the day for breakfast and lunch by suite passengers only at no extra charge. This is one of the reasons we booked a suite for our upcoming cruise on NCL. The thought of a quiet breakfast and lunch is appealing to us. I believe the menu is different than the one in the main dining rooms.

I "heard" that the Vista Suites on Legend have coffee makers in the rooms? Is that info incorrect? We had one on NCL and it was GREAT!!!!

no cabins have coffee makers on Carnival.

Carnival believes all pax are equal, nothing special for suites.

Thanks for making this. I was trying to explain to my DH why I don't want to pay extra for a suite on CCL. We're looking at 2 separate cruises for next year and I want to try X since I think the perks are worth the extra cost of the suites and he wanted to pay more for a suite on CCL.

Thank you for the list--it's interesting to see the comparisons.

Is it just me, or is the thought of a complete stranger going through one's suitcase to unpack it kind of creepy? I really prefer to keep my undies private, even when I'm not wearing them. Then again, the whole concept of a "butler" at my beck and call really doesn't appeal, so I guess I'm just not the demographic they're looking for!

Odd .. never crossed my mind to have a butler unpack. I think people use them to schedule things like excursions, or if they want to eat in a pay restaurant a specific night, even if its full, the butler can get them in.

Never once have I read someone used the butler to unpack... I guess they would though if you asked them to. .. If thats what you wanted them to do.

Yes - we have enjoyed that perk on both the Sky and the Epic. It's especially sweet on the Epic, as they have the "Epic Club": a restaurant exclusively for suite guests (breakfast, lunch and dinner). GREAT service and a very good menu! We still opted to try out their specialty restaurants on 6 of the 7 nights. When we return in late November, I see us enjoying more of those included meals there.

Another handy perk on the Epic is early admission to shows (getting great seats) - escorted there by the concierge or your butler.

We really did not ask much of our butler - just put in a couple of requests: for example: when he brings the afternoon treats, we had shrimp cocktail... or cookies and milk waiting for us when we went back to the room in the evening.

That's the reason I don't book a suite...creeps me out thinking about a butler. Now on X if you book Concierge Class you get a lot perks without the butler... not as many as the suites but not the price either.

...

Well, it's not like they're Lurch or something... :D

Honestly though, you needn't utilize their services if you don't desire. They are not like true butlers - they have several cabins that they are responsible for. Though I will admit, the first one we ever had (Celebrity Century) always seemed to be very close by. They will tempt you will all sorts of tasty treats!

... and set up tasty (FULL) breakfast for two on your balcony:

OK -- enough of this... now I am starting to get HUNGRY!

What cracked me up was that on Celebrity you get luggage delivery. I just envisioned everyone else going to a giant room and trying to find their luggage. :D

Nice comparison.

I know... some of that is good stuff!:D

With Carnival, you even get a TV! ;)

Why would the plastic bed protector be an amenity? Sheesh, that would be standard unless the cruise line didn't mind their bedding getting ripped and stained by dirty suitcases.

Loved the comment about Lurch :D

Tom, just send in that butler with the whole trolly! What temptation.
