NCL friend and family discount

It is for family and close friends but not all ships, sailings, cabins selections are available. Employees get a list of sailings and prices quarterly. Plus if the ships sells out you can get bumped from that sailing with little to no warning. Not worth it in my opinion, otherwise it would be a great way to sail with a family member that works for NCL.

I have never heard of it. What have you heard? Who told you and do they have more information?

Do you know anyone that works for NCL? They should know about it and be able to give you information. You would need them to turn in the 'application' for you to see if you are approved for the discount and the cruise.

First rule about Friends and Family Rates.... Don't Talk About Friends and Family Rates!

Tyler Durden

Exactly. it was the same with Princess. We were not allowed to discuss it with ANYONE, even family and friends. If they wanted to go, there was a special department to book it, and they were given the itineraries and princes then and only then.

Yes, they pay, and no, they don't get paid. It is a good rate, but not at all free.

That's a job I wouldn't want then

I think he was being facetious!!!

As is often said in the main show rooms "BINGO!"

I'm SURE this has changed, but for those curious my sister and BIL both worked for NCL many (many, many) moons ago. At that time, the family discount rate was $25 a day as long as I traveled with my sister or traveled on the ship where she worked. Cabin assignments would be made at the last minute, and more times than not we wound up in a suite. (my first cruise ever was on a family discount on the SS Norway in a pool deck suite which ruined me for life lol) I can only guess what the family policy is now!

I will say that I just found out that my work does a discount through Norwegian! However I found out after my final payment and the cruise has increased in price from when i booked it so I will not be utilizing it. It is called work play and gives you 10% off. So while you may not get the employee amazing employee price you may be eligible for another discount because of your employer. I do work for a very large corporation, but the fine print says your company only needs to be more than 50 employees to participate.

I know nothing about the F&F discount etc but I do know this page shows up in your edocs if you're a F&F booking:

Dear Team Member, Team Member Relative, Vendors or Guest:

We look forward to welcoming you aboard our ship on your upcoming cruise. We have established an 800 number for Family & Friends to answer any questions. They can be reached at 866.880.4489. Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30pm EST. Additionally, they can assist with such add-ons like: a. Airport Transfers - to and/or from the pier b. Pre and/or post hotels c. Trip Protection - that includes cancel for any reason and job loss protection (Friends & Family bookings do not get special handling and are subject to penalties regardless of the reason for cancellation - exceptions will not be made. For this reason, we highly recommend your Friends & Family purchase travel protection.) d. Dinning & Entertainment - Epic Only, Changes and cancellations (reservation can be made on-line)

However, before embarking the vessel, there are a few things you should know. As a team member, team member relative or guest of Norwegian Cruise Line, we ask you to comply with the following:

  • General - Team Members, team member relatives and guests are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner. Inappropriate behavior or dress may result in the loss of future cruise privileges and may result in disciplinary action against the team member.
  • Service Charges - Team Member, team member relatives, vendors or guests traveling under this program, as well as Staff sailing onboard on Company Business on any Norwegian Cruise Line ship, MUST pay a daily per person per day service charge that will be added to your onboard account for all guests 3 and older. There are no exemptions to this rule and anyone who refuses to pay will be reported to the respective Department Heads. Service Charges will not be adjusted once onboard!
  • Full Fare Guests - Norwegian's full fare guests are our top priority and should be given proper consideration, priority seating, dining and other arrangements over team member, team member relatives or guests.
  • Stateroom Assignments - Stateroom assignments are made based on space availability. Stateroom changes or upgrades may not be requested onboard. Additionally, Norwegian reserves the right to change a stateroom assignment or cancel a team member's stateroom assignment in favor of revenue guests. Norwegian will make every effort to avoid this situation, but it may occur and the full cooperation from the team member, team member relative or guest is expected .
  • Cruise Fare - Do not discuss your cruise fare with other guests.
  • Dress Code - Norwegian Cruise Line's Freestyle Cruising gives you the freedom to dress as you please. However, you are expected to adhere to the appropriate dress standards onboard Norwegian vessels. For additional information please refer to the "Welcome Aboard" booklet included in your document jacket.
  • Table Assignments - Norwegian Cruise Line's Freestyle Cruising lets you choose, what kind of food to eat, at what time and in which restaurant. This allows you to choose from a 24-hour buffet to open-seating dining in a variety of restaurants and cafes with individual menus.
  • Coast Guard Drill - All guests (including team members, team member relatives or guests) are required to attend the mandatory Coast Guard drill for their own safety and the safety of others.
  • Casino - Please refer to NCL's Intranet Casino Policy and Procedures folder for the most up to date information.

If the team member, team member relative, vendor and/or guests of the team member do not follow the guidelines that have been established by Norwegian Cruise Line, it may result in the team member being unable to participate in the special team member and/or family and friends fare programs being offered on future sailings. Additionally, the team member may be subject to loss or suspension of future cruise privileges.

We trust this information will help you plan your trip. We know that you will represent Norwegian Cruise Line in the highest of professional standards. Have a wonderful cruise.

We ask that if you enjoyed your experience onboard that you help us spread the word about how great it is to cruise with Norwegian by posting your comments on Cruise Critic and sharing your experiences on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Sincerely,

Norwegian Cruise Line
