Ouch, that music boat cruise is 5 days and the cheapest interior room is $1600 on Carnival! Very cool musical artists but boy do you pay for it. I think I will stick with following this thread and see if we book something reasonable in the future.

I think the prices listed for this cruise are misleading.

the price is for two people (not a per person fare) and includes gratuities, taxes and fees.

My husband and I have been on all 3 cruises with Michael W Smith and Friends. His friends have included Amy Grant, Melinda Doolittle, Matthew West, Natalie Grant, Leeland, and Max Lucado. There is also a family friendly commedian, such as Jeff Allen and Henry Cho. There is a concert every day, sometimes 2. Usually daily morning devotions. Smingo, which is basically bingo with some fantastic MWS prizes. This is always used as our fundraiser. We have raised thousands of dollars for Samaritans Purse, Operation Shoebox, and a school for the blind in Jamaica. And then there is my favorite, Smittyoke where you get to go on stage and sing a MWS song while Michael and the band play for you!

The first 2 cruises were just half the ship but last year's was a full chartered cruise. All have completely sold out.

The next cruise is July 7-14, 2012, Canada & New England on HAL Maasdam. You can find more info on his website. We were booked within minutes after it was available. And no, I don't work for him, but I have friends that do. lol

You're right -- the website is misleading. And you can still ask about the buy one cabin fare and get one free. Have some friends that booked that -- I think they paid about 600 each and that included port fees, taxes and gratuities. Really good deal when you look at all the concerts and the fact that it's a fully chartered cruise.

DW & I have cruised many times on Christian Music themed cruises. If you like contemporary Christian music these are great. Yes they are more than if you booked the same 5 day cruise on a different date. Here is why we have no provblem spending the extra dollars. First, they charter the whole ship and even the "musik" piped throught the ship is programed by the promoter. You have concerts by headline acts every night, previous cruises have included Third Day, Newsboys, Chris Tomlin, TobyMac, Jeremy Camp and many more. There are family friendly entertainers, DonB!, Brock Gill, Bello, Improv 123, Bob & Larry (Veggitails). Casino and bars are open however minimal usage. We have had Mac Powell from Third day stop by our dinner table. The artists will stop and talk with you. There are meet & greet session for almost all the artists and a chance to cruise with like minded individuals. The promoter is Premier Christian Cruises of which I have no affliation other than being a frequent customer. They also do Marriage enrichment cruises, Girl Getaway cruises and others. Please ask if you would like more information. I will be glad to share our experiences.

As I see the thing, it should rather be something like "Human Dignity" cruise where homosexual themes, ragged clothing, vulgarity and other things like that wouldn't be considered included in "Human Rights", allowed and available without any question. You surely wouldn't mind if some of the other decent fellow passengers were Jews, Muslims or just intelligent secular people? I, being a Christian myself, wouldn’t.

Fred, be careful here lumping homosexuals and vulgarity. Your ignorance betrays you.

You call this attitude "Human Dignity"????

Our church has done a group before, but this would be so much more fun and enjoyable. We may have to look into doing this next go around.

My DH and I have been on 2 Gaither cruises to Alaska and one Southern Gospel Music cruise to the Caribbean. ABSOLUTELY LOVED all of them, but especially the Gaither cruises! As some have noted, they are more expensive because of all of the artists that need to be paid. So that is a drawback. But the whole ship was chartered and you just felt like you almost knew everyone on board though you had never met them.

However, that being said, earlier this month, we went on our first non-Christian themed cruise (also to Alaska with family) and I can't think of anything that was particularly negative or offensive. Well, some of the shows were a little racier than I enjoy, but it was more of a PG13 than an R rating I guess. And of course there was a spectrum of people, but most of them just seemed like regular people like the rest of us. We just tried to be salt and light.

My friend went on a Michael W. Smith cruise to Alaska a few years ago and she absolutely raved about it! There are plenty of Christian themed cruises if you can afford to pay a little more.

This is a wonderful idea. We had booked a cruise last month to the W. Caribean but discovered there would also be 500 gay men onboard so we cancelled because we just would not be comfortable. I give the glory to God for allowing me to find this out before we set sail and we were able to get most of our money back because we bought the "cancel for any reason" insurance.

Wow. I realize this is old but just wow. I sure God appreciates you giving him the glory for allowing you to be such a good christian that you wouldn't want to sully yourself by even being on a ship with gay men. How wonderful for you. A brilliant way to share God's love. Wow.

Getting ready to sail on the Music Boat November 6th. 5 days of Christian music on the Carnival Imagination sailing from Miami to Grand Turk. As mentioned before if you want a cheap trip look elsewhere but if your a concert junkie and add in all the concerts, meet and greets with most of the artists and the chance you could be in the same buffet line with your favorite artist. well worth the cost. just search Music Boat 2012

My parents and I were on a Norwegian trans Atlantic cruise in 2009 and were delighted to see that there was a morning bible study on the agenda every day. I'm sure if enough people ask about it, the ship will be glad to allow a space for it every day.

Hi folks. I am surprised to see so little discussion by Christians on this forum. However, I see some have commented that they would like to have fellowship with fellow Christian cruisers. It is not hard to organise!

My wife and I went on our first cruise last year from Vancouver to Beijing on the Diamond Princess.

With the encouragement of a lovely couple we met at breakfast, I wrote to the Cruise Director (hello Kelvin) who was most accommodating and helpful.

Yes, I am an ordained minister but anyone who wants to host a get-together should be able to get a place and time allocated which will be advertised on the ship's TV and daily newsletter. We kicked off with 80 participants - not bad!

We met on sea days in a dining room and studied the Bible together for half an hour. If you can't manage that, why not just meet and read a chapter of the Bible together? It is a fabulous way to enjoy the privilege of being part of God's family with people from all over the world while enjoying cruising.

A highlight was when we all sang 'Amazing Grace' while looking out over the blue ocean and remembering that John Newton (who wrote the hymn) had been a sailor and slave trader before God got his attention and radically changed his life.

The only thing I would ask is that (as always) you make your request with courtesy and respect. If refused, don't argue; you can still meet on decks or other public space.

May God bless all who sail!

Rev Phillip

In 2010, we took an Alaska cruise (Celebrity Infinity) that we purchased through this site www.christiancruises.net

There were about 200 other people on board who had also booked through this company, and paid higher rates, because we were treated to 2 hour-long concerts each day from Christian musicians (Don Francisco, Matthew Card, Dallas Holm, Michael Card, etc. -- this particular cruise had musicians who were popular in the 70's, 80's and 90's.)

The entire boat was open to all of us, but only those who paid and booked through this company were permitted to attend the concerts (in a small theater). It was a fabulous cruise - we got to know several of the performers individually, and it was worth the extra money (get a cheaper cabin than you would otherwise). As you would expect, the increased price was due to the need to pay the musician's fares for the cruise.

This kind of cruise might be a nice option for those who want to meet other believers and hear inspirational music but also enjoy the other things that a cruise has to offer. We travelled as a family, but it would be a particularly nice way for your Christian singles to cruise.

I believe that they offer 2-3 cruises per year -- some involve music and others have speakers.

If you go on a P and O cruise at Easter you will find plenty of Christian fellowship, with Chaplains both C of E and Catholic and the chance for daily worship and get together. Being a Catholic I like a drink after Mass so that suited me fine but it was nice to meet up with other Christians.

Just got off the Nieuw Amsterdam HAL. There was a Kathy Troccoli and Friends group booked into the manifest.

Mrs Leatherlungz called and inquired about this with the booking ministry organization; the representative was the absolute most hateful snotball one would ever expect to encounter involved with a ministry like such. We had already booked beforehand and was just inquiring about access to some of their music presentations. As I understand that on some ships, these groups allow some of the *general population* to enjoy their glow off of Christ.

Well so anyway, I guess business comes before Salvation.

As for my observation on the N.Amersterdam; there was ZERO interaction, no outflow, no passing glimpses of anyone with a Bible under their elbow.

I suppose, the members of the group who paid double for their cruise were kept under "house arrest" type conditions. And we were certainly hoping to see someone. We are very observant, of 1900+ guests, I seen many of the same people multiple times per day. Albeit, the people I observed were worldly people with goings and comings of eating, drinking, revelers, pool rats, shore excursion partakers, etc.

So from my omitted observation, these UNDERCOVER CHRISTIANS, kept the WORD all to themselves. I'm disappointed in many respects and am assuredly not sold on future prospect of Christian cruising. I seen zero witnesses for the Gospel.

Everyone talks about the High price of these cruises. I believe it is because the ship makes a great deal of its income on booze. When the ship is filled with non drinkers and lite drinkers, the money has to be made up somewhere.

Hello:

I just read read your post about looking for other Chrsitians who like to cruise, and I would be very interested. We just returned from a wonderful European cruise on Princess, and I was not able to connect with one Christian to have some fellowship. I am fairly new on these message boards, but I would like Cruise Critic to consider adding "Cruising Christians" to it's special interest topics. We like to drink wine, travel and have fun, but I also would like to have some time with other Chrisitians onboard, as I know they are there, but have not be able to connect. We are in our early 60's and just finished our 7th cruise, so we will be doing more cruises. Anyway, if someone can help out with how to get my idea passed on to Cruise Critic regarding my idea, I would appreciate the info. We love cruising and seeing the world, and sharing tours rather than taking the ship tours!

I was on a Princess cruise last year and they have a Bible study scheduled for each day they are at sea for the entire day (at sea the entire day, not a Bible study the entire day).

Our last trip with Princess was the Holyland Cruise and there was one service on Sunday at sea with only a handful of Christians showing up (I was suprised so few). Now we are booked on a Panama Canal cruise in February 2014 and I see the first Sunday (not the second) is at sea so hopefully there will be a non-denominational Christian service, perhaps an opportunity to meet others for fellowship during at sea days. Would there be any other way to connect with Christians on a particular cruise other than meeting them on Sunday morning?

Thanks for any ideas.

Hi all. I'm an ordained Anglican Minister in Australia and have cruised twice with Princess. Both times I have been allowed to run Bible Studies for my fellow passengers. The Cruise Directors were both very helpful and provided a venue and publicity. We experienced good roll-ups on both cruises and made lovely friends.

Can I suggest that you plan to do the same when you are cruising? Ask the Cruise Director, in writing because they are very busy at the beginning of a cruise. If you can't run a Bible Study yourself, plan to meet for a half an hour and just read a bit of the Bible together. It's a fabulous way to enjoy fellowship on sea days and supplements the Sunday Interdenominational services which are worth attending.

Can I ask one thing though? Please remember to be polite and not demanding. They will do their utmost to accommodate your request and find a suitable venue and time but they do get a lot of requests for groups of all kinds to meet. Let's be sure we honour Christ while aboard and be good neighbours to our fellow travellers.

Smooth sailing everyone!

Rev Phillip

Rev Phillip, thanks for the great idea. I do have questions though as I'm rather new at this. When you say to contact the Cruise Director in writing, are you referring to contacting them after we are on board by dropping a note at their office? Would Princess then assign a venue and time, or would I request at least the time? When we were on the Holyland cruise I was walking about one day and a woman asked me if I knew where a particular room was which I happened to have seen so I took her there. It turned out she was looking for her small group meeting with their pastor for Bible study. I so wished I were traveling with a group like that but perhaps this could create something similar. Thanks again, Yvonne

Hi Yvonne. Yes, write a nice note to the Cruise Director outlining what you would like to do and suggest a time/place. I found 3pm on 'sea days' worked well. Strangely, the Chapel is often unavailable because it is used for customs and other administrative duties. On my last cruise on Diamond Princess we were offered the Skywalker's Nightclub which was absolutely stunning. Princess will advertise your meeting on 'The Wake Show' and in the 'Princess Patter'. As always, remember to be flexible and gracious as the staff have many conflicting requests to sort out. Whatever you are offered will still be a time of great blessing as you meet with fellow believers enjoying the great privilege of cruising on God's wonderful seas. Happy cruising! Phil
