Unusual Question - how late are things open on board?

All of the venue hours are listed on the back page of the Patter. From a recent Patter, all of the bars are listed as being open from dome time "onward".

Typically at least one or two bars are open late. They often list the late night bar in the Patter entertainment/activities page. For example, from a recent Patter. they had the "Ultimate deck party" that night that started at 9:30pm. The Petter has the "ultimate after party" that moved to the Skywalkers night club at 11:00 onwards for the late night party crowd.

It's all there in the Patter.

However, not being a night owl I have not seen them close.....

Thanks for the details.

We have the late traditional dining and not used to things even getting going until after 11pm. Maybe with early morning activities they will be more prone to earlier bed times.

I'm usually up til at least midnight, so I guess on a Princess ship I'll be a night owl too!! :D

I am not really much of a night owl anymore, but what I have seen is that the late night bars stay open until the crowd decides to leave. I think that if a particular bar is real busy they will keep it open. There is no law that they have to close as they do in the states.

Overall, I do not consider Princess to be a "late night" type of cruise line. The ships become pretty much a ghost town after 1 will many bars closing well before that.

I have never stayed in the casino past 2 as they shut that down too.

If the dance club is rowdy I hear it will stay open but I think it depends on the passenges and the DJ. Although I rarely go to the club. :)

Overall, I don't think that Princess passengers are late night folks. We run out of bars to go to quite early for it being a vacation.

Now every ship and every voyage is different. But I have never seen it go into the wee hours of the night myself.

Got an interesting question here - many of my fellow travelers are night owls and wondering how late are the entertainment areas open.

Casino, Bars, Nightclubs etc. We're used to bars open until 2am here in Orlando.

Any help is much appreciated!!!

Casino (unless in a country's waters that do not allow it) will be open to the wee hours.

Bars -- others have answered

Nightclubs - Live music likely over by mid-night. DJ music until the wee hours unless there is no passenger demand.

It can vary a bit by ship too. Here is my personal observations.

Cruised on the Royal 11/10 and it had things going a bit later. Crooners had stuff going well after midnight as late as 1am. I enjoyed that because I'm not much into clubbing.

Cruised on the Emerald on 11/19 and they pretty much rolled up the side walks by 11. Even Crooners was done pretty early. Can't comment on Skywalkers because I don't usually go there after dinner time but they are the late venue.

As for the casino, here is the general rule:

Last night of the cruise the casino will close around 1 or 1:30.

If the next day is a port day, the casino will close around 2, maybe 2:30.

If the next day is a sea day, the slots and the electronic game tables are open all night, but the cashier closes at around 2 and all regular tables with dealers, etc. close then too.

The timings for the craps table, 21, etc may vary if there are still a lot of people playing.

We just did 14 days on the Crown - we met some great friends, and spent a few happy evenings in Crooners until after 1am. Although the bar staff seemed to finish at midnight, so we had to get our drink orders in by then :D

At home my husband doesn't go to bed until 2 or 3 in the morning, while I'm usually at least in bed by 10 or 11. On cruises we tend to get on the same schedule and get to bed by midnight or 1. And we've never been the last ones leaving a venue.

But the closing hours do vary because each cruise and group of passengers is different. This is general information from several lines, but I'd bet Princes is the same.

When the Patter says "onward" it usually means "until people stop buying drinks." We've been on cruises where the lounge we were in was closing and they just announced which other lounge was still open.

Once with a group, on HAL which is a notoriously early cruiseline, we called the front desk to see if any bar was open and they sent a bartender over to one of the small venues for us. Of course there were 8 of us and we were part of a bigger group.

If you're not talking about drinking, I understand the International Cafe is open 24 hours a day.

I do not know what the "rules" are for late night venue closings. I can speak to personal experience. On a Crown Eastbound transatlantic, I experienced what I thought were early closings. Crooners routinely closed at about 11:30pm. This was in spite of the venue usually being at least half full when Crooners closed. Skywalkers was generally open past midnight even though there were often less than 20 passengers at the venue. It usually closed by 1am. Go figure the reason for the difference. On a Christmas cruise on the Ruby Princess, the venues were open until quite early in the morning. I was at Skywalkers some nights until 3am or 4am in the morning. This may be due to it being a holiday cruise and the expected volume of passengers at the late night venues.

My guess, and this is just a guess, is that generally venue closings are set before a cruise based on the expected turnout for late night venues.
