Looking for a quality, singles cruise for 40+

Hi,

I am a 40+ single female looking for a good recommendation for a quality cruise that affords opportunity to meet single, available males.

Does such a thing exist???? Is a cruise not such a good venue for meeting a potential mate?

I don't seem to have great luck with the online dating services.

A cruise is not a good place for meeting a person inclined to get married. If you're looking for a holiday hook up, then maybe you can get "lucky". But for finding a "mate", I don't think so, especially in your age group. Sorry, but the 40+ males who go on cruises are 99% with their families. You don't really find many solo males in that 35 to 50 age range who cruise and are looking for a wife.

Check out hosted singles cruises. While most end up meeting lifetime friends, there have been quite a few success stories of people getting married (after a few trips together etc). Most go with the intention of having a great time & making new friends & if you meet your mate, that is a bonus. There are age specific cruises but even the all ages trips are mostly 30s/40s/50s

I think your percentage of 99% is too high. Perhaps saying the majority would fit the bill better but there are single men out there cruising without families and really more than you might think.

I've only been on one cruise as a solo traveller. My experience was that there were far more single women on board than single men.

I find that's generally true of most places that I go to - women seem far more willing to get out than men. Maybe all the men are just sitting in the pub!!

I've only been on one of the specialist single holidays, and again there were more women than men.

I've wasted money on online dating sites, and have now come to the conclusion that I'm better off on my own. At least I have full control of the TV remote .... lol

I have found that the free on line dating sites have the same people as the paid sites..........I have found it is all about how you put yourself out there.....I date a lot and have fun.........but then I am not look for the perfect man to marry...........I am not just experiencing life and if the person comes along so be it.....;)

I am an early forty female and have cruised single but with other female friends.(Carnival) I didn't cruise looking for a mate or even a bf, but I did find a hook-up. It was random, exciting and I would definitely go again. My friends ended up meting his friends and we even disembarked back in Galveston and hung out there for a few hours before everyone went their separate ways. We all still keep in touch but a cruise is not the place to expect to find "the one" but it is possible to find "one"! Remember to take your own condoms!

I have not really met any "available" men (although I've met a few men on the prowl) on the cruises and I've been cruising since 1999. I'm booked for Cruise number 17,18, and 19 this year and two of these will be solo. I'm already seeing a man on an on-again off-again basis and am not really looking to hook up but I just love to cruise. I find I enjoy a solo cruise as much as those that my family comes with me for. I guess I'm also a romantic at heart and it would be nice to meet someone that could, not only be my best friend/soul mate, BUT who also enjoys cruising but I'm certainly not expecting it! :o

obviously to go on a cruise with the intent of finding your new significant other is at least 90% UNlikely if not more. i am going on my cruise because i love it . my ex met someone on our last cruise and divorced me when we got back, and her relationship with him quickly fizzled ( rotflmfao ) . but like i said i looooooove cruising and will not stop.

If you met someone on the same cruise as you and from the same area as you, that would actually be fate and you must have been meant to meet. :)

Yikes! Glad it didn't put you off cruising! I'm going on the Epic too, December 1. It's a great group on the roll call...expecting big fun. I hope the one you're on goes better than the last!

P.S. Sometimes when things like that happen it's a blessing in disguise.

Im going to give it a try. This is first time Im going solo. Im not one of those guys that sit in clubs and sports bars on ship. I may go into the Disco if the music is good, ill sit there and listen for awile. Once the cig smoke gets to me I will walk out. I like to roam the ship after hours at night, sit out in sun during day, I also like to spend time at the gym and saunia a few times a day on a cruise. Im mostly a people watcher. I rarely drink, mabie a couple during the whole week. Mostly the frozen drink types.

Im not the type to start a conversation, but if you came up to me to start one then i open up more. Im more of a quiet layed back type person.

I just went solo on the Maasdam and had a ball. Was thinking of booking a last-minute Titanic memorial cruise on the Journey but the prices were a little too steep, so I thought, hey, why not go to the Caribbean? So off I went.

Now I think I'll probably always go solo. I LOVED having my own cabin and I made lots of friends and had a ball renting a mini-moke and getting thoroughly lost on Barbados and getting sandblasted by jet exhaust at Maho Beach on St. Maarten. Hoping to go again next winter.

On a previous cruise, I did actually meet someone and had a shipboard romance. I certainly wasn't looking; in fact my friend and I were going to get in a hot tub and this guy was in it and I was initially annoyed that there was someone else in it. :) But I asked if he minded if we joined him in the Petri dish, and he laughed and said he didn't, and it turned out pretty well!

it was never going to go anywhere permanent even though we had a good time and saw each other a few times after the cruise. My advice to the OP (if she's even still reading) would be to join a roll call, go on the cruise and have a great time no matter whom you meet (or don't meet)!
