Last Voyage of the Monarch of the Seas!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! It's been a very nice weekend on board the Monarch for her last cruise with RCI. We've had great weather all three days. The past guest party was yesterday, there are a TON of C&A members on board. Somewhere around 80 Diamond, 170 D+ and 30 Pinnacle!

Tonight will be the Farewell Party in the Centrum, I'll get lots of pictures to share when I get back home. The ship is still in good shape. Other than the empty gift shops and farewell banners you wouldn't know that anything was different.

I'll be back on later today or tomorrow with more, but I just wanted to let everyone know that the old girl's last cruise was going well!

After talking to you Friday night,I know you were having fun;) Enjoy the last night..:D:D

I did have fun Friday night. A little too much fun as it turned out. ;) I woke up the next morning feeling like I had been run over by a large truck.

The pics are uploading right now, so I should be able to start posting them up soon.

Thanks for the update. Looking foreward for your review of the last cruise.

I wish I could have been on that last cruise but the prices were to expensive for me to go. Plus I had to work all weekend as we were busy with spring break crowd.

I took my last voyage on the Monarch during this past Christmas with my family. What great memories I have from that cruise and the 4 other times I sailed her since Dec 2009.

Okay, so lets get started!

I'm not going to dwell a whole lot on the review portion of this cruise since Monarch is leaving and the information won't really be valid any longer.

My wife and I drove down the Port Canaveral the morning of the cruise. It's a two hour drive for us and we got to the port around 12:30pm. We used the cruise parking service at the Radisson Hotel. They are no longer allowing cruise guests to park at the main hotel. They've bought another lot directly accross the street.

Embarkation went very fast, we were on the ship within about 15 minutes after getting off the Radisson's parking shuttle. We found the ship to be in good condition. The only maintenance issue being the shattered window in the Schooner Bar. It's been that way for months now, I suppose they are waiting on her upcoming dry dock to fix it.

Our Cabin: 8020, Obstructed ocean view

The cabin was in good shape, with a newer flat screen TV. Our room steward kept it spotless and was very nice. The view was right between the two lifeboats.

The Windjammer was in full swing the first day during lunch. We had a small meal there and also stopped by the roast beef sandwich station out by the pool after the muster drill.

What a great experience!

I wonder how the staff were taking it, do they get moved to another ship?

They all seemed to be in good spirits. About 60% are going on their vacations before starting new contracts on other ships. Some are still in their contracts and will be going to them within the next few days.
