Yes,,, it must be. Thinking back maybe I should have worked a little harder in school.

Then again, I'm happy with my status in life. Could make more but could also be a lot worse off.

I can't help but wonder what he would be doing if his father hadn't started the business though.

Actually The Board of Directors declared the Special Dividend of $.50 per share for all shareholders. Lots of companies are declaring these types of dividends as tax rates are going up next year. So, lots of tax savings to be had if the dividends are paid in 2012.:)

Mikey just happens to own 180 million or so shares!

A sleazy article from a sleazy site. Arison is getting the same extra dividend that every Carnival shareholder gets on a per share basis.

Yes it is an obscene amount of money but he is not enriching himself at the expense of the shareholders of the company.

What is worse is CEO's getting multi million dollar bonuses as they bankrupt the company and then wait for the tax payers to bail them out.

And even lower then that are ambulance chasing lawyers who feed off peoples misfortune and hold themselves up

as beacons of virtue. Yuck.

This is a special one-time $.50 per share dividend for all shareholders.

Somehow the original posted story did not mention that fact. http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/11/16/3100723/carnival-declares-special-dividend.html

Can't understand why the original article might have left off that info...

That one time "special" dividend just gave me an extra $50 - since I only hold enough CCL to get the OBC. Hey, looks like I might go out to dinner tonight! :D

Not quite in the realm of "Looks like I won't be going to work EVER!!" ;)

I have never understood why some people are so jealous of others when they are successful.

His father risk everything and could have lost it all those years ago....

I am proud that the Arisons have made Carnival Corp such a success....

You would be more proud if you could call him daddy. Met him and his kids on the Magic ceremony in Galveston. Asked one of his sons if he was a CCL employee or into cruising, he laughed, said no, and said he was into basketball. LOL

Hey thats an extra $50 to all of us who have the stock to get OBC. Its extra money for all stock holders. As George said some stock holders are more equal than others. I'm happy for the extra $50.

Exactly. The article also fails to mention that at least 110 companies have declared special dividends or that Micky lost about $500 million in net worth as a result of Concordia.
