We’re a family of 6 in a family ocean view stateroom on IOS but have option to switch to two separate cabins with interconnecting doors. An oceanview connecting to an interior, on guarantee GTY stateroom option.
Having cruise previously on IOS and stayed in a Promenade state room we have no experience of smaller rooms. Benefits are two bathrooms instead of one (2 teenagers with us!) and a little more privacy for everyone. I am guessing the interconnecting door is as with hotels and can be locked from either side? Anybody had interconnecting rooms or travelled with a large family in family ocean view stateroom on IOS (9200). Thanks in advance |

I vote for the plan with an extra bathroom.

Once they unlock the connecting doors, I don't think you can lock them again.

RFS: 1st and 2nd are full fare; 3rd-6th are at lower rate; you have access to Concierge Lounge; both bedrooms have doors for privacy; one bathroom has a bathtub; balcony has a table with 4 chairs, plus 2 loungers.
Two cabins: 1st and 2nd in one cabin are full fare; 1st and 2nd in the other cabin are ALSO full fare; only 5th and 6th pax are at lower rate. I'd go with the RFS....

Any price difference between the two options? I would probably go for the two connecting rooms just for the extra bathroom if there are teenagers involved. Plus it means an extra closet and storage space I believe. But I could be wrong.

I went with 2 connecting room. We have 6 also and last time we went on a cruise and had two rooms and it still was a pain in the butt getting everyone ready with 2 bathrooms let alone one. There is a family suite that has 2 bathrooms but $$$$$. and when I priced 2 rooms vrs the family one that fits 6 with one bathroom it was afew hundered bollers cheeper and to me giving up a bathroom is not worth it!!

I'd get the 2 rooms. The Family OV cabin you have isn't the "extra large" one found on Deck 8 so you won't have a lot of extra space in the cabin (although, it's still roomy). The extra bathroom with 6 people is a huge plus.
Is there a price difference? That may factor into "my" decision.

I also don't think the cabins would be connecting if they are an interior and an oceanview gte...with a guarentee there is no sure thing that your cabins will be close together..stay with family cabin or move to two connecting cabins that you choose..

I just got back from Freedom of the Seas and we had connecting doors that we were able to lock and unlock when we wanted to. I had heard that once they were unlocked that we wouldn't be able to lock them but that was not the case with Freedom and probably will be the same with Indy

Kind of depends on the family, too! I've shared a cabin with my brother since we were teenagers. We've had connecting rooms with our parents next door, but we'd rather keep the connecting doors closed.
As much as I love my family, it's hard enough sharing space with my brother and I don't think I'd want to share a bathroom with my parents.
