I suppose you could. . . . . but, who would want to? As mentioned above, most of us want to dine on food that we do not get at home. Regent already does German, Asian, Tex Mex and Italian. If someone ordered checken fried steak, the chef might end up on the internet trying to figure out what the heck it is.

You could ask for Wienerschnitzel prepared with steak instead of Veal...add white gravy...

Who would want to? Obviously Paint Horse would want to. And probably others. Everyone's tastes and desires are different.

Kathy -- that is a good way of describing the dish. If others could explain what they want that well, the chef could prepare it fairly easily. While the kitchen would like to prepare what you like, as Wripro mentioned, everyone's tastes are different (which is one reason the reports on food are so varied). I would love bangers and mash -- however, the ship simply does not carry the type of sausage that is necessary for the authentic flavor.

I assume the challenge providing passengers with food they enjoy is difficult on any of the cruise ships -- luxury or not.

Travelcat2,

Why not request bangers to be aboard ship in your guest registration form or have your TA contact Guest services. If you do it far enough in advance they should be able to accommodate you. I have often asked for certain beverages or food items to be aboard and have always received them on luxury lines.

That is a good question.......and, I do not have a good answer. Perhaps if it were very important to me, I would request it. I typically do not make special requests -- not anywhere. I have found a nice little pub in Cape Town that we will visit for lunch next month prior to boarding the Voyager. That is where I plan on having my bangers and mash.

I am sure the bangers and mash in Cape Town will be wonderful. It's a great city with great food. Maybe they'll pack you up a doggie bag to take aboard the ship.

Mr. Paint,
We will be on a Regent cruise in May and we have a choice of taking the same overnight trip to the Four Seasons in Cairo with a private Egyptian Museum tour identical to your itinerary. Would you recommend this overnight excursion or doing it all in one very long day and spending the night on the ship?
Thanks for any advice you can provide.

I would definitely do the overnight. If nothing else standing on the balcony at the Four Seasons looking at the Nile while the sun goes down and the call to prayer echoes across the city is worth putting up with the smog and the crazy drivers. In addition, the opening of the museum is the only practical way to see it. The pace is a little rushed, but you will have time to see all of the major items in detail.

Chicken fried steak is a tenderized piece of round steak that is breaded and fried, and was somewhat popular here in the southwest US until we all found that it was not healthy to eat this food often -- especially as it is customarily covered in cream gravy. I'm sure the OP is jesting about this being served at dinner on Regent.

The excursions were in some places in the world that I frankly would not go -- unless I were serving my country and fully armed -- including my personal tank.

But, the air conditioning and plumbing problems are beyond comprehension on a line like Regent. If the drains are backing up in a suite on a Regent ship, Regent should move the guests to another suite (upgrade) without needing to be asked -- period. Also, A/C is an important thing to me. On a luxury ship, the A/C should be capable of maintaining no more than 72 degrees, and must provide forced air out of the suite vents. Again, the OP should have been moved without asking.
