Default Price Drop Question

I booked an Early Saver rate. I just went onto the Carnival website, and see that there is a lower rate posted, but it is a FunSaver rate for a Inside Guarantee stateroom.

I am just wondering if Carnival will honor this, as this is not for the exact same category (we are in an inside stateroom, but have already had our room assigned).

Any insights on this? I would hate to put in the form and then have them change us to "Inside Guarantee" as I like the location of the room that we have, and it would not be worth it to switch for a few extra dollars.

Thanks!
Shanna

No, you cant match downward ... if the price for the OV guarantee matched, then you could move up to that and match.

Even a 4A cant match a IS guarantee, its a lower category. You also arent allowed to downgrade with ES rates to get the better rate.

PS Early Saver you have to pick a cabin. You state it was assigned. Maybe you let the agent pick a cabin?? You cant get a guarantee with Early Saver, so it shouldnt have been assigned in the first place, you had the chance to pick it.

Default Are we sure?

Hello,

I just recently requested a price adjustment through Carnival's ES Program and it was honored.

The price we paid was for a category 4G (Obstructed ocean view, categorizes as an inside room) and we picked our cabin number. The lower price we saw advertised was for a Fun Saver rate for an Inside Guarantee...

Filled out the ES form (about $70 difference per person) and the request was honored.

You got lucky then, because for sure a 4G is a way higher category than a IS. Im sure you werent supposed to get it yes ... are mistakes ever made? yes.

OP submit it ... nothing to lose. If Carnival makes a mistake once, they are likely to do it again ... ? Just dont be dissapointed if you dont get it.

Yes, I do think that my husband and I (and our friends who also got the same price adjustment) got lucky. I figured it was a shot in the dark, but it worked out...I would say submit it and try - why not?

I booked a 1A on the Valor last December. In February I changed to the lower ES rate. At about the same time, my cabin was redesignated as a 6B. My online booking information showed that I had a 1A cabin through the end of October, when I made my first request for a lower price OBC. That triggered a change in my booking to show that I had a 6B cabin and I received a new confirmation. At first, Carnival denied my requests for an OBC. But when I pointed out what had happened, they granted me the price difference as though my cabin was still designated a 1A. So now I have a very nice OBC to spend on board.

I know my PVP has told me that even a new PT which is lower than a 4A, or a 4A, I cant match with a IS guarantee, even if its the lowest category in the type of cabin. I argued and she says that is the rule and she is a good PVP and keeps up with the rules.
