Default Paradise 3 Day Mexico - Suite vs Oceanview? Help

This will be our first cruise on Carnival - celebrating my little bro's 40th bday at the end of April 2010. All of our other cruises have been on Princess - in a mini-suite and have been 3+ days. Since this is such a short trip, can anyone weigh in on the suite amenities on Carnival and if it's worth the extra $$ to go with a suite (regular, not penthouse suite)? My wife wants the suite but I've heard the balconies are pretty small, only room for a couple of chairs and since we're on a short trip, I don't really know how much time we'll be spending out on it. Any and all comments will be appreciated!

Carnival doesnt believe in treating folks differently. You will get VIP boarding, thats it, and board with the handicapped pax. thats the only suite perk.

The cat 11s (now called something else), are about the size of a regular balcony on Conquest class ships. Not that large. If you want more space, you will have to book a cat 12.

We are going at the end of April 2010 as well. We will be celebrating my cousins 40th birthday too. So far, we have 10 rooms booked and half of them are cat. 12 suites and the rest are oceanview. This will be my husband and i fourth Carnival cruise, but the shortest cruise. What are you dates?

I've been on this cruise several times - not worth the extra money for the suite. Too short of a time, not much time spent in the room.

That's my opinion too. Not worth the extra money for the short time on this sailing. The weather is not the same as cruising down to the Mexican Riveria or cruising in the Caribbean. It is going to be a bit chilly to be on a balcony even sailing the end of April.

In my own opinion, the suites on the Paradise just aren't as nice as the suites on the newer and larger ships.
