Default A search engine tip to save you money

Something I realised while googling private transfers Heathrow- Dover, but I reckon it applies equally well to other searches & places worldwide.

The obvious search "taxi Heathrow Dover" produced a huge listing of exec/chauffeur/Heathrow transfer specialists, who pay Google & other engines for prime listing- with London prices to match

But "taxi Dover" came up with a selection of local Dover-based taxi co's, well-versed in transfers to Heathrow, Gatwick, central London, etc - but at much much lower prices

I've also seen on this site prices for Southampton to London airports etc, which make my eyes water - way over the prices that I pay for Southampton-based taxis. Same rule applies.

Worth thinking carefully about what you pump into your search engine, sometimes more is more

Regards, John Bull

Not right on topic, but you could take the train into London, then the subway to the airport (fast & frequent). Journey time: less than 3 hours.

Better value? Depends on how many are in your party.
Train will get you there on time. Taking to the roads around London is anybody's guess when you'll get there.
Also, depending on your time, taking the train might allow you a little time in the Capital (left luggage booth at Victoria and at Charing Cross stations (both in the centre of Town)).
