Here is a link to both their blogs so you can see what they are wearing during the day time
Look at Sea Days specifically to see the clothing:

Thanks for the links. I don't wear tank tops but the shorts are a definite yes. We are taking our first HAL cruise on the Noordam next week and are hoping to have an enjoyable time.

Default Tank Tops for Old Guys

Personally, I stopped flexing when I hit 40 years old.

This is not intented to be an insult, but when we see those tank tops on our more advanced aged visitors, we say they have their wife beater shirts on again... Again, no insult, just our opinions...

One of the most unattractive pieces of attire for men - especially those men advancing in years...

Stop searching SwissMyst. You're right. Michelin has only ever had a max 3-star rating.

Over here on the left coast we don't have too many four course dining establishments with formally attired waitstaffs, wine stewards, starched white table cloths, rows of sliver utensils, and silver crumb scrapers. And when we do, we dress for the occasion. We don't try to turn it into a Hardee's rest stop.

Hang in there HAL, keep your formality. It is not much. It is not demanding. It is just nice. Hope to goodness I will have long passed on before the newly full body tattooed generation shows up in their octogenarian tank tops at breakfast in the MDR.

G'd nigtt.

A tank top would not reveal my tatoo...I'd have to wear a thong in order to reveal mine. Rest in peace HAL cruisers, that will never happen, That's why the tatoo is placed where it is....only those I deem privileged enough get to see it.

I would not drive one of these now or cruise on Oasis... and certainly dress up is nice if you desire, but there seems to be options available on all cruise ships if you demand it.. imo

Default Another Option

Reading these boards, let's see we have

people who don't want to tip

people who don't want to dress

people who want to schlepp all their cases of wine, beer, soda, water, monavie, prune juice, gluten free wine (made in 1974)
chicken nuggets shaped like amphibious creatures (that's all little Timmy will eat) kiddie pools for verandas

I've got the perfect solution....It's called camping

I was only stating what my preference was for me and why. But, that is my opinion for me and me alone.

Legitimate question. What keeps those who don't want to dress up (even a bit) for meals coming back to HAL, when so many other cruise lines are far more accomodating to more casual dress? What else makes the casual dress choicers choose HAL?

One of those things. Maybe by complaining ad nauseaum, non-stop, till you are so sick of hearing it, they think something will change or something. Don't you know people like that? They keep repeating themselves over and over and hope that the outcome will change because they said so. Very boring and tedious. That's why I laugh so much. It's all stupid.
