Default Itouch, wifi guestion

My daughter in law and I were talking about cellphones on the ship and how much it cost to use and if you have service. She has never been on a cruise before and I am not technically inclined. She started asking if you could use Itouch for her ipod on the ship? If there was WiFi available free or if you had to pay for it? Any answers would be helpful. We leave on the sensation on the 19th!!! yeaaaaaah

For the cellphones, call (or check out the website) the carrier and find out what the charges are on ship and at the ports. Also look into texting-for us (Verizon) it was $.50 to send a text and $.05 to receive one. Was like $2.49/min to call or receive calls.

Don't know for sure bout the iTouch but my guess is most ships don't have free wifi (or even wifi at all maybe) but you may be able to find a place in port that does (but my guess again is it would not be free)

No free internet, whether it's wired or WiFi....most ships charge about $.55 per minute...less, if you buy a "block" of minutes.

How much a cellphone costs depends on your plan...call your carrier!

You can use your iTouch, but will have to purchase internet minutes. It's awfully slow, not sure it's worth it.

Thanks everyone. I checked our phone supplier and found out that texting is the way to go when when we have connection and calls are anywhere from 3.99 a minute to 5.99 a minute depending on what the company there charges my company. It is a little confusing so cell phones are getting turned off. Thanks for the info on the wifi.

Do NOT use your iPhone or iTouch to cruise the internet. You could get a huge bill of download time if you use the phone or touch for internet. I know that when I used my iPhone, first generation, on a cruise, I came home to a phone bill of over $600. When on board, turn off Data Roaming or else you're going to have a problem with paying for downloads of your email.
