Default Which ruins - Tulum, Coba or San Gervasio?

The cruise we are going to book stops at Cozumel and offers three excursions to ruins - Tulum, Coba or San Gervasio. Any recommendations on which one to see? What are the pros and cons of each? Thanks!

Tulum is probably the best of the 3. San Gervasio is a small and not all that impressive of a site, Coba is usually overun with tourists (as is often Tulum) and the facilities around it aren't that well kept. The site is impressive but not spectacular.

San Gervasio is something you can do yourself on Cozumel as part of doing other things so it is in a sense the most convenient. Tulum and Coba entail taking the ferry to Playa del Carmen then bus rides to the sites. The ferry can be a rough ride if there is any chop in the channel.
Coba is the furthest away and would be a very long day. I'd skip Coba unless you are in Cancun.

Tulum tour may give you enough time to shop or eat in Playa del Carmen for an hour or so depending upon arrival and ferry schedule. Also Tulum can be done through independent tour providers who are aware of ships' schedules and will work to get you there and back as effectively as possible. They're prices are usually a bit cheaper than the ship excursions but not always. You'll need to research these companies on either this board or other forums for reputations and how other crusiers, not longer term visitors, have experienced their tours.

So it really comes down to what else you wanted to do in Cozumel. If visiting Mayan ruins is the main attraction, I'd go for the Tulum excursion or independent tour. If visiting ruins is just one of several things you might like to do, then keep San Gervasio as an option while touring the island.

Thanks! We are really only interested in seeing the ruins here so it sounds like Tulum is our best bet.

Thanks for the information - This was my primary reason for booking this cruise.
