Every Carnival ship I have been on does not have individual thermostats in each cabin....but I have only gone on some of the older ships. I went on the NCL Pearl about 2 years ago (it was brand new then) and they had the individual thermostats. Just curious if any of the newer ships in the Carnival fleet have these?

I was on the Destiny in July and it had individual controls in the cabin.

All the cabins have some type of air control. Some have registers on the wall and others have an open and close tab (similar to airline/bus overhead air vents) on the vents in the ceiling.

thanks...all of the ships I have gone on have the vent control on the ceiling. I was hoping the Splendor that we are going on May might have the AC controls. We got a cabin this past time that was warm the whole trip and they were never able to fix the problem

The seven year old Pride has wall controls. Ours didn't seem to do much, though. It was always cold enough to hang meat in there unless I blocked the balcony door open!

The Triumph certainly DOES NOT! On my recent cruise to Canada/NE the ship was just COLD! The ceiling vent only regulated the amount of air that came into the cabin -- not the temperature. Once the gangway doors were opened, it became a wind tunnel on those decks. The automatic door on the Lido also caused a wind tunnel effect. One word for the ship ---BRRRRRRR! MARAPRINCE |

I just got off the Splendor yesterday and I had a dial in my room which was supposed to regulate the temp. It didn't make any difference which way I turned it. They came with a digital thermometer and it was 75.5. Way to hot in my opinion but according to Carnival, anything under 74 is permissable. They did get it down to 73.9 and that was all they would do. I asked why other rooms down the hall were freezing and they said that they had real problems with regulating the temp on the ship.
I was on the Elation last year and they had a vent in the ceiling with a knob and I was about froze out. Next cruise I'm bring a small fan as its a pain to go to sit on the Lido deck at 2am just to cool off |

There seems to be a big problem with regulating the indoor temps on Carnival ships -- too hot or too cold!
At least on the Crown and Caribbean Princess the real issue is what side of the ship has full sun for most of the day and that other than Caribe deck, all the other balcony decks are mostly uncovered. This lets in the maximum amount of sunlight and makes the cabins hard to cool down even if you keep the drapes fully drawn all day long. With the Carnival ships, some of them only have ceiling vents to regulate the amount of air flow -- not to cool or warm up the cabin temps. If you are going to send a ship to a cold climate, it is not too much to ask for the ability to have heat to raise the cabin temps. If you are in a hot/warm area, you want to be able to cool off the cabins. Not really such a big thing to ask for -- comfortable cabin temps. ![]() MARAPRINCE |
