Default Family of 6 - suite question

Why do the descriptions of the 'Family Suites' mention that they sleep 8, but they'll only let you book 5 people in the room? Is it possible to book the 2 bedroom suites for 6 people?

We are booked on RCCL family suite for next year. There is a minimum of 5 people but a maximum of 8 people. We have not added our 6th person yet. Call your RCCL vacation planning people and talk with them.

Have a great trip!

Did an RCI phone representative tell you this or did you try to book online? I ask because the website won't allow you to book more than a certain number of people in any cabin/suite, even if there is capacity for more, and you have to do it by phone.

Also, depending on how close you are to your cruise date, the ship may be at capacity for that many passengers in one cabin/suite. Just because a cabin or suite is rated to hold X number of people doesn't mean that you can always book that many people into it. That's because the ship itself has an overall capacity rating, including how many cabins/suites may be booked with more passengers. Once that maximum is met that's it. There are far more cabins and suites rated for more than 2 passengers than are allowed to be booked that way on any one cruise. That's so that people have more choices about which category or location they can book.

Please let us know if you tried to book it online or if it was a cruise line rep who told you this. It really does depend on other factors besides how many passengers can fit into the suite. We'll be happy to help if possible.

With RCI Family Suites that can accomodate 8 , you will need 2 Reservation #'s (even though it is only 1 cabin). That's why it can'y be done online.
You have book this cabin by calling your TA or RCI .
