The Mariner and Voyager had $20 million refurbishments less than a year ago (December 2008 and January 2009). The Navigator will be in dry dock from November 15 - December 15, 2009.

The Voyager vibration is not something they are able to fix. However, the vibration is only felt in the aft section of the ship.

They are trying some amazing things during the upcoming Navigator dry dock which includes trying to dramatically lessen the vibration (which has been considerably worse than the Voyager).

We're in Cabin 1054, which is aft on the Voyager, cruising in the Baltic 2010. Anyone have experience with the vibration in the aft section which we have been assigned??

Suite 1054 is under the outside eating area of La Veranda restaurant. We wouldn't book that suite for a couple of reasons:

1. People dine outside La Veranda (and may smoke -- not sure) and can look down at part of the balcony on suite 1054. I'm sure you could hear the people dining above you.

2. There is definitely vibration in La Veranda -- sometimes it's mild -- other times it can be stronger. Also, being on deck 10 aft, you may feel the motion of the ocean a bit more (a combination of being on a high deck and in the rear).

If these things are not a concern -- go for it.

I've had breakfast a few times out on the balcony part of La Veranda, and we're not a noisy bunch. Not sure about the smoking regs but I don't remember seeing people smoke there.

Default Does the Navigator vibrate throughout the ship?

Or just in the stern?
The Voyager rattles mostly in the stern, not forward as much.

Default Aft Cabins on Voyager

When we are on the Voyager we prefer the aft suites on decks 7, 8, or 9 and have spent a lot of time in them (cumulatively a total of 12 months since 2003 and 6 more months booked for 2010). I suspect we have more time in them than just about anyone else so we might be qualified to comment on the "vibration problem". Our experience is that it is not a problem and so mild you won't notice it. In fact, it is pleasant and makes for good sleeping.

There is no smoking on the back deck of La Verandah so that is not a problem. However, we do not book aft deck 10 because the balconies are exposed to folks who are sitting outside La Verdandah on deck 11 and there is noise coming down from La Verandah into deck 10.

We also do not choose deck 6 because of some noise in the evening coming up from the Horizons Lounge but it is not too annoying. If pressed we would choose aft on deck 6 rather than aft on deck 10.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information, we are booked for our first Regent cruise to the Caribbean in November 2010 in suite 971 and were worried about the vibration issues, thanks for putting that to rest. Ever stay in cabin 971? How big is the balcony? have you had a Butler and how was the service?
