Default 30 year old newlyweds(Avalon Tulip Time)

We are a 30 year old couple planning on honeymooning on the Avalon Artistry Tulip Time on the Rhine next April. I thought that this would be a pretty interesting trip outside of your normal honeymoon trips. This cruise fits our wedding time frame. I have had people tell me that we are too young to do this. Does anyone have any experience on this particular cruise or have any suggestions on other cruises. Are we too young? Thanks.

I think that your trip sounds wonderful ... and you are never too young for river cruising. You will find quite a variety of ages on these types of cruises. Our first cruise we had two in their 20's who came with their parents ... and we had a wonderful time talking with them. There have also been folks in the 80's ... they are interesting to talk to as many of them have had exciting careers and have traveled extensively.

I'm 62 and my husband is 67 and we have mixed with folks of all ages ... just relax and enjoy making friends with those on your cruise.

And, congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

I agree with the previous response - you are never too young to river cruise. I am 36 and my husband just turned 40 and we've been on 2 river cruises together and both love the experience, are planning another one for next year. I've also sailed with my mom on multiple cruises back to my early 30's and enjoyed it so much that was what convinced my husband we needed to try one for our vacation. Last year we had a honeymoon couple on board with us and this year we had multiple couples in their late 20's - all said they loved it, one couple said it was their 2nd cruise and they had convinced their friends to come along this year.

I have sailed the Tulip cruise before and it's beautiful, are you going to Keukenhoff Gardens - it's one of the most beautiful gardens I've seen in Europe - you'll love it. If time permits spend an extra day or two in Amsterdam and explore on your own - gorgeous city with a lot to do.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and enjoy your honeymoon!

best wishes for a wonderful life together. We just returned in October from our 1st river cruise on Avalon's Tapestry up the Danube. I saw a mix of pax from 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. Not a lot of 20s or 30s but a few. I'd say if you're fine keeping your own company and don't need to "hang out" with others your age, you'll have no problems whatsoever. However, if you're a groupie, then you might want to consider inviting another couple to join you (at their expense of course) so you know for sure you'll have others your age to hang out with.

This was my first river cruise (many many ocean cruises on various lines). I did note that there were quite a number of folks that traveled together - whether it be multi-generational or siblings and spouses. Perhaps it's just more noticable to me on a ship with only 140 other pax.

hope this helps. My recommendation - go for it if you're independent! It's the ONLY way to travel!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thumbs up Another plus....

I agree with the others, but here s another thought...How many honeymoons have the hotel room traveling with you? You can mingle with all age passengers, see the sights, etc. but then you can escape to your private retreat WHENEVER. How convenient on a honeymoon.Best of luck, sure you ll enjoy it.Congratulations

I am 34 and my husband is 38 and we are booked for our first river cruise next August 2010 with Scenic on the Amsterdam to Budapest itinerary. I think that river cruising is such a unique type of cruising that not only you will enjoy the stops (mind you you will have some overnights and long stays in ports so you can just hang out on shore late) you will also enjoy the scenery passing by, this is a limitation of ocean cruises. I say try it you have nothing to lose.
