Default Are there tours for hire at the docks?

Can anyone tell me if there are private shore excursion vendors available at the ports? It looks like, from reading these threads, that one needs to book well in advance. In other ports, we have had very good luck getting off the ship and finding tour guides offering tours. Any advice would be appreciated. We do not want to rent a car or take the ship’s excursions.

I seem to remember seeing Roberts Tours, and lots of vans who will take groups, as well as taxis. You shouldn't have any problem.

Roberts Tours are pre-booked (still a lot less than NCL tours). I know some people tried to book the Roberts Tour just by walking up, and were told they could not take them on the tour.

I guess we were in such a rush to get to the car rental places, but I sure do NOT remember any vendors, vans or anything like that, at any of the ports. Yes, there were buses and private tours waiting for passengers, but all those already had tickets. Best to do your homework, and either pre book a private tour, take a ship excursion, or do your own thing and rent a car.

You are far better off, having your plans and reservations in place before you leave. Yes there may be some walk up tours, but you are going to have to find them, decide, compare etc etc, wasting valuable port time.
