I would not call it "unwise" or impossible. The bigger question is . . . how practical it would be??? If you are on a private tour with others ON YOUR SHIP for places such as St. Petersburg, it will be easier to chat and connect with those folks BEFORE you do your tour. That way you'll have a better "chemistry" on how you want your tour to "flow" and work. It is also possible, but less likely, that one of the ships can be a little delayed and/or needing to adjust some aspect of the schedule. If you are all on the same ship arriving at the same time, there will not be any logistical issues potential. Depending on the size of your tour group and if there are any special needs/interests, being on the same ship seems to have some advantages to consider.
