Default Is Princess too old a crowd for my 18 year old son

I am going on my 1st cruise, a 9 night Princess cruise to the Carribean from NYC this Summer.(Carribean Princess Ship)

Does anyone know if there is usually a good amount of other kids aged 17 - 20, so my 18 year old son will not be bored.

I'm afraid that Princess caters to more 50s -60s clientel rather than families with older kids.

Does it help that we are cruising during school brake time

I await some expert opinions from people who know

If you are cruising during the summer, then there will be a lot of kids his age! Did this cruise last year and it was wonderful. Would certainly do it again....enjoy

I went on Princess one time and never even thought that the crowd was an older crowd. The only thing that might make a difference is that it is a 9 day cruise, so the cost of that longer cruise might make a difference, but being in the summer, it probably will be fine. (I hope that makes sense.)

Summer cruising always gets more kids and young adults.
An 18 year old will find others that are cruising as a graduation gift or with their families. He will make his own friends. Tell him to start at the pool. That's where it all starts

I'd have no problem cruising Princess. It is very multi generational expecially to the Carib in the summer. You can always go to the Roll call board and ask there if anyone is bringing along like aged family members and start communicating before the cruise.

Which reminds me that one of my nieces and nephews actually got along so well with our young assistant waiter that they met him on his day off at port and he gave them a fantastic tour. They still keep in contact, years later.

Actually, that age group is a hard one for Princess and maybe most cruise ships in my opinion. Too old for the teen club activities and not old enough for the over 21 crowd. That group kind of slips thru the cracks so unless there are others in that age range to hang out with, they might tend to be a little more lonely. My kids always had a hard time when they were in that range so we made sure they had friends along.

We did princes in summer lots of kids.

We did princess during school for Alaska notta.

If you go to carribbean during the school break time there will be kids, lots. Now whether your kid ends up bored will not be determined by kids as I expect lots of them, YMMV

I can tell you from experience he will not be bored! I was on the crown when I was 18 and on the Caribbean Princess when i was 20. Princess has a meet n greet usually for 18-21 year olds on the first or second day so make sure you tell your son to look out for that. After meeting some people I was never bored! Princess ships have a great skywalkers night club. I was there frequently late at night. After 11:00 ish the crowd is all young people. The Caribbean princess was one of my favorite ships! absolutely gorgeous!

Look in the roll calls for the cruise and see if anyone is traveling with 18-21 year olds. When we sailed on the caribbean princess i found a facebook group that someone had set up for the cruise and i planned to meet people through that, so im sure your son will definitely find some people to hang with.
