I have never experienced a price drop sailing from Galveston although some say they have.

Book early, book often... That's my motto!!

If you're happy with the price, book it.

Make sure to book direct, or with a TA who will do price adjustments before final payment. You can get any price drops prior to final payment, so there's no reason not to book now. Only ES will get you price drops after final payment.

My experience with ES has been good...but watch daily, several times a day and act promtly when you see a lower price. I have saved a bunch.

I have been on 5 cruises out of Galveston, and none of them has ever dropped in price. In fact they only go up. So book early to get a better price. The earlier the better.

I am sailing out of Galveston in Jan and we booked in Aug and did the Early Saver and it was $289.. I looked at the price today and though they are no longer doing Early Saver ..they have "Fun Select" and the price is now $464..so to me it does not look like it pays to wait..maybe it will go down right before the cruise but we are getting pretty close to it now.

I booked a 5 day cruise from Galveston on the Ecstasy back in May and I have saved $100.00 via price reductions. I got two reductions, one for $80.00 and a second on for $20.00 before I made my final payment.

I use a automated tool to monitor for price drops and it sends me a email telling me there was a price reduction. I promptly send in the form for my price reduction and my price got reduced both times.

It does seem like prices from Galveston are higher then other ports. It's only about a six hour drive to the port for us and with the high price of airfare now I'll happily drive to Galveston and cruise from there.

We had to see why RCL was more expensive and if it was worth the extra money. Turns out it wan't worth it for us. Voyager of the Seas was very nice but not worth the price difference in our opinion. My rock climbing days are in the past and ice skating on a frozen pond can be challenging enough, let alone ice skating on a moving ship.

About the only knock I would have about the Carnival ships is their decor. Carnival ships seems to be decorated by someone with a pretty wild color pallet. I still remember the MDR on the Valor (at least I think it was the Valor) that had the grape thing theme going with TCU purple colors and big glass looking grapes all over the place. The food was great but I would prefer a more subdued color scheme... but that's just me.

BTW, we already have our 10th cruise booked for March 1, 2010 from Galveston on the Ecstasy. Platinum here we come.
