Default Disembarking in a Port of Call

Greetings all. I am wondering if anyone (specifically all you travel agent types on this board) know if you can pre-arrange to disembark the ship (end your trip) in one of the ports of call? We are looking to take a cruise where the last stop (before the USA) just happens to be a place where my husband has a business conference starting on the next day. So, instead of finishing the trip, we thought we might book at a local place and fly back when his conference is over. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks for your assistance.

Ok yes I am a TA and have had this situation befire. You need permission from the cruise line to disembark at a port other than the returning port. There is a law for passengers called the Jones Act. Call your TA or if you booked direct with cruise line, contact them to get you the paperwork necessary to get approval disembark.

Great, thanks. I will talk to the TA (when I decide on one, lol) and make sure that this can be worked out for us.

I have often joined or left a MSC cruise other than on the official start or end date. They allow people to board at different ports and disembark at different ports on many of their cruises (especially the Europeans ones). I'm not sure if this is possible in the Caribbean only sailings as I just did the published itinerary on my one cruise there. On a TA out of the Caribbean. I had no problem getting off 3 days earlier than the end of the cruise so I could leave in the UK rather than Denmark.

It would certainly be worth a phone call to find out if it would be possible
