I do not believe Carnival has put in a floor on its prices on the Dream like RCCL did with the Oasis to keeps its prices up. RCCL is trying to set a marketplace and mystique for the Oasis and not cheapen it like other cruises, which means they would rather keep the prices up and sail with less than full.

In this environment around the holidays, people who wait to the last minute are finding great deals even during Christmas and Thanksgiving weeks.
The fourth quarter is more than the two holiday weeks and reading the statement they are seeing lower demand for the whole period even the holiday weeks which surprised them. RCCL has now projected a loss for the fourth quarter. Sailing the Oasis with empty cabins just does not make sense unless the demand even for their newest ship is less than what they had expected. Lowering the prices would fill the ship but probably at the expense of their other ships and essentially setting up a downward spiral in pricing. Of course RCCL management is touting that 2010 future bookings look good but what would an investor expect them to say. It's early but these huge ships they have built may be a drag to earnings for the near future until this economy does a true turn around.

As someone who sailed on the Dream I would say don't worry about the negative reviews. The Dream was the best ship I've sailed on. The crew was the happiest and most attentive. One problem area that I've seen people complain about was the Anytime Dining. We were in the aft dining room with late seating and it was the best experience ever.
I'm not a fan of bigger ships, I prefer Spirit class ships, but the Dream rarely felt crowded. Maybe it was the port of Civitevecchia but embarkation and debarkation were the best ever.

The economy has effected prices everwhere. We are on the Crown because it was just so cheap for an extended balcony. Less expensive than the Dream.

Personally, I wish those that book cruises out of NYC would stop booking and just hold back!!!! Wait until the last minute and see if they drop the prices...that is my new theory. Forget it....too many in the tri state area still waving the greenbacks around!

Yes, I live there
