We've sailed on both lines and prefer HAL. The only thing that was somewhat better on Celebrity was the food in the MDR. Otherwise, the service was much better on HAL in all areas. Also liked our HAL balcony cabin much better. We haven't booked a spa cabin on either so can't comment there. Have a great cruise, whichever one you choose

Cruise ship policies are not a "source of information" presented to be a dispute between you and your doctor . They are their stated regulations regarding pregnancies and limitations they put on pregnant passengers after 23-27 weeks gestation. Poster asked what the guidelines were. This was a handy resource to provide in response to those queries. It was good information.

To SwissMyst:
Ok for the last time and then I ignore your future posts. I never asked for the guidelines. I am not cruising past 24 weeks. My doctor thinks it's fine. It's none of your business. Back to the HAL helpfuls! Last edited by bickee; November 18th, 2009 at 02:17 PM. |

Bickee....
Ignore any comments regarding number of passengers on Solstice class ships. I can attest that after spending 11 days on Solstice if you told me that the ship was sold out with 2850 passengers on board I would have said: "Where were they?" Have a great cruise. Ziggy

It was interesting to learn there are guidelines and that they differ from one cuise line to the next. And more importantly why cruise lines do have these guidelines/policies. Should be a separate thread and not made so personal on this one. Particularly if cruise lines are interested in attracting younger passengers. |

Both Celebrity and HAL have the same pregnancy guidelines:
23 weeks or less on day of disembarkation. Letter from physician (midwife okay?) required regardless of weeks of pregnancy. OP is taking a one week cruise. Someone else can do the math. Just passing on the policy. That is all. It is also interesting the variation between 23 (low) to the high of 27 weeks as the cut off date. Any science behind this or is it purely a risk management decision? |

My interpretation of the OP's refferance to her pregnancy was that she KNEW the policies and did not need to be told more about them. She did not either state or imply that she intended to violate the policies in any way. I think that by stating "I am not crusing past 24 weeks" was her way of saying..."I'm staying within the guidelines and it's really none of your business when my baby is due". The OP is simply looking for advise on which ship / line to choose...Not a lecture on how the guidelines for pregnant passengers might or might not apply to her specific situation. She very nicely asked several times to stick to the topic of her inquiry. I don't know why so many people feel the need to police the actions of others in their most personal and private situations. |
