My wife has been encouraged by all your positive posts, she was afraid to have me ask because of frequent Flames that she has seen when others have asked an innocent question....Thank you all and I will let eveyone know how she does when we return after our cruise next week.

I just got back from a cruise(Royal Caribbean) 2 weeks ago and I am on WW.
I did not count points, did not restrict myself if I really wanted something, used the stairs as often as possible, and I only gained 1.5 pounds which I have already lost(and then some).
Don't stress about it...go and enjoy the cruise!

I look forward to hearing all about it. Be sure to remember all the tips you can but most of all....ENJOY. I think choices are easier when they are put out for you and you don't have to think about what to prepare.

I'm not on weight watchers but I do limit my daily calorie intake and workout 3 times a week. On a cruise (and I suppose this could change), I don't actively work out but I do take the stairs whenever possible and walk a lot more than I do in my normal daily routine. I give myself off time to eat whatever I want, but I tend to be pretty reasonable anyway. There is always fresh fruit and I love that. Shrimp (along with a lot of other seafood) is low in calories and high in protein and it's available every night. Plus, at least at dinner, most of the food is rich enough that I can't eat it all anyway. So I eat more on a cruise and eat things I wouldn't eat every day at home, but last time, I didn't gain any weight just due to natural increased excerise.

Kudos to your wife for wanting to stay on track. While I don't recall specifically, I would think there are plenty of diabetics and other people who can't/don't eat sugar on board that they would have these things available, but she may have to ask. But, if she wants to make sure, she can always pack and take with her.

And tell her not to sweat it too much. There's plenty of ways to burn a few extra calories on board, the walking back and forth and up and down stairs helps a lot. And pick active shore excursions. I actually lost 10 pounds on both my cruises, and I ate like a pig. But I was FAR more active than I normally am.

Wish her well for me and tell her just to do the best she can and let the rest roll off, tomorrow is another day after all

As a diabetic I have to be aware of the ingredients in the food that I eat. I have never gone hungry on a cruise and have actually lost a couple pounds here and there. Long walks around the track in the morning, use the stairs and try to not use the elevators if possible (by the end of the week the old knees are getting a bit banged up from all the steps). I will even have a bite or two of WCMC at least once. On my last cruise my weekly sugar average was actually lower than the week before the cruise. I am still not that impressed with Carnivals sugar free deserts, but the SF carrot cake is not half bad.

Couple of things I had forgotten,

I was looking forward to the free, highly regarded lemonade (which was good) but was worried about the sugar. So I took a couple different flavors of the single serving Crystal Light powder stuff. On board the water is very good (obviously filtered much). So there is always ice and water available. The Crystal light was good on its own and even better when I mixed with Rum

Also, I was determined to read a book on the cruise. So I bought the same book book on audio and the paper back book as well. This way I listened to the book while working out and read it later or out by on the balcony.

The gym on the Valor was great...I ended up going 5 of 7 days.
