Default Which is better on Explorer? Chair or scooter?

Which do you think is a better choice for us? We are not going to utilize the equipment all the time but are bringing it along for the "bad days" where my husband just can't walk the ship. It is a 12 night on the Explorer. We have a suite so room for it won't be a problem in the cabin.

PLEASE HELP! I need to order this asap! My husband says just a regular wheelchair but others seem to get scooters on the boards more often from the posts that I read.

I think a scooter gives you..and your husband..much more flexibility and independence. I use a manual wheelchair at home, but would never consider booking one for the ship. I bring my manual chair..but use the scooter exclusively on board. The distances across the ship are deceptive. If I had to wheel myself, I'd not leave the cabin.. But with a scooter, I can head off anywhere, am not dependent on my husband as "pusher"..and besides, much of the carpeting doesn't lend itself well to manual wheelchairs anyway.

We rarely do anything on board alone. We usually are always together so I have no problem pushing him in the chair when he does decide to use it.

In the meantime, though, I am checking on the pricing of the scooter as well.

I also think you would be better off with a scooter. Pushing a chair on carpeting can be exhausting.

Whatever you get you may want to make sure it will fit through the door of the suite.

I agree scooter is the best choice ASSUMING that you have an accessible cabin booked if not then it may not fit in the door or in the cabin. So go with a folding chair.

sine you do things together and don't mind pushing him the man wc might work better for you. It would also allow you to do the ports on his bad days, as scooters can bottom out on some of the Caribbean style (steep) ramps and curb cuts. Plus you could fold it up and put it in a a taxi trunk.

This is what we bought to use on the Explorer when we had an aft cabin. We've been very happy with it.

For us buying was cheaper than renting. We've also used it for outings since it folds and fits in the car so well.

Does anyone know the size of the door opening on the HC rooms on the Explorer?
