Default Accomodation in Melbourne -Dawn princess departure

Any ideas where to stay in Melbourne to be close to where the ship departs from? Looking at the Hilton but it's very expensive. Would probably like a late check out as well.

The South Wharf Hilton is nice but thats more city although still not far from Station Pier. Try Wotif.com to see if you can get a cheaper rate.

http://www.cosmopolitanhotel.com.au/ this hotel has been refurbished and is located in a beach side suburb called St Kilda, and is only a 5 minute cab ride to the ship. Otherwise if you want something really close to Station Pier do a google search for accommodation in Port Melbourne, Albert Park or Middle Park. You have a lot of options..When are you departing?

Hi chesso, not sure what date your cruise is, but if in Dec/Jan it will probably be a bit expensive, its peak summer holiday season, have stayed at the Novotel in St Kilda, (lots of restaurants etc around) rooms are not that big but its only a five min taxi ride to Port Melb station pier, other options like cazz0069 says Port Melbourne, Albert Park (which has quite a few hotels along Queens Road) and are close to Station Pier, check out lastminute hotels other options als, new Docklands area in Melb also has loads of new apartment buildings again only a 10-15 min cab fare back to Station Pier, search Dockland apartments in Melb. Cheers

Sorry don't know of any accommodation options in the area, but the Port Melbourne / Station Pier area is expensive.

I would recommend to try www.visitmelbourne.com.au and www.thatsmelbourne.com.au for possible suggestions and before booking, check out accommodation reviews at www.tripadvisor.com

If the Port Melbourne area is expensive it's probably worth your while to stay in the City (lots more choice to suit different budgets) and it's still only a 15 or so minute cab ride to the pier. Will probably cost you about $25 cabfare.

Default Melb Accom

Concur that a hotel in the city would probably give the widest range of options ....... when visiting the Dawn Princess for her visit to Melbourne I noted many people arriving with their suitcases via the 'light rail', the terminal is right across the road from Station Pier, if you really have budget concerns, it would only cost about $5 max. from the city.

cheeso,
I am not sure when your cruise is, but if it is during the Australian Open, hotels will be expensive and hard to come by (I would imagine).
